Petrofac Revamp

With the Mighty Terrors relegated to the Scottish Championship, many wondered how the top league teams would cope without the Tangerine Pound to sustain them?

Needless to say they've found a way to bleed that stone dry....with a revamp of the Petrofac (Challenge) Cup!

No longer is the Petrofac just for the lower league teams. Nope, the Premiership clubs are so desperate to suck on the teet of the Terrors that they are now putting their u20 teams into the competition.

Not only that, but such is the draw of the United side that even CHAMPIONS OF OTHER COUNTRIES want to enter the competition just in the hope of playing the mighty Terrors. That's right, from this season onward the Petrofac will include teams from Wales and Northern Ireland including the Champions of those countries.

The Tangerine Pound. Seemingly it's needed to sustain teams not just in this country, but in other parts of the British isles too. But we don't complain. We just go about our business with a quiet dignity that is sorely lacking elsewhere.

Just found a copy of Ivan's and Admin's diaries online. Check out these from the same day...

ADMIN'S DIARY

Tuesday 3rd May 2016

Saw Ivan late in the evening and he was acting really strangely. I was blogging in the afternoon with the Admin 2 and I did turn up a bit late so I thought it might be that. The bar was really crowded and loud so I suggested we go somewhere quieter to talk. He was still very subdued and distracted so I suggested we go somewhere nice to eat. All through dinner he just didn't seem himself; he hardly laughed, and didn't seem to be paying any attention to me or to what I was saying. I just knew that something was wrong. He dropped me back home and I wondered if he was going to come in; he hesitated, but followed. I asked him again if there was something the matter but he just half shook his head and turned the television on. After about10 minutes of silence, I said I was going upstairs to bed. I put my arms around him and told him that I loved him deeply. He just gave a sigh, and a sad sort of smile. He didn't follow me up, but later he did, and I was surprised when we made love. He still seemed distant and a bit cold, and I started to think that he was going to leave me, and that he had found someone else. I cried myself to sleep.

I seem to be out of the loop with this one.

Probably for the best.

I had a thought on the new format this morning....

What if a Scottish fourth tier team is drawn against a Welsh or Irish team away, with the tie to be played on a Tuesday night? The Scottish boys will have work the following day and it may well be that they won't be able to travel.

There would also be costs involved in travelling to Wales and Ireland. Are they being covered?

It's no coincidence that they waited until this season to do it.

Imagine the backlash if they had done it last season and the bears never got to see their team win it in 4 attempts losing to the great rivals Linfield
