Another thing that I can't fathom is the arranged marriage stuff.

Why did that come about? And does the person get any say at all in their potential partner?

Forced marriages are Haram (forbidden) under Islamic law, two people getting married must always have a choice. Forced arranged marriages are cultural which is why depending on which Muslim country you go to you will either find it in abundance (Pakistan) or not (Morocco).

Before anybody asks FGM isn't anywhere to be seen in Islamic text either and is mainly found in Christian majority countries like Eritrea. (i don't think the bible talks about FGM either I maybe mistaken)

No there isn't a death penalty for apostasy and no husbands aren't allowed to beat there wives.

I'm sure there are more questions but seriously now... I'm gone!

Shinji, modesty is promoted within Islam for both men and women.

Quite a few women in western society would benefit from this, I used to get the train to work and there was this young mother who regularly boarded my train with very little left to the imagination, her fat, stretch marked, tattooed stomach which she so proudly paraded was not a good look, believe me
