No surprise really, it's turkey.
Yildirim says "it would be wrong to call it a coup" but that there has been an attempt by "part of the military".
He describes it as an "illegal attempt" to seize power.
The Turkish army are trying to cause an uprising, I'm guessing they've had enough of Erdogan.
All downhill since Ataturk
Robbstradamus predicts a mini war between Reddevilsdouble and Kung Fu Cantona on here.

#Turkey: It is an uprising in the military. Government says it will not tolerate the attempted coup.
What happened to Turkey. I visited it years ago and was surprised by how nice it was, like I was expecting the infrastructure to be worse, went to Bodrum. And then I kind of admired/was intrigued by the fact they were a predominantly Muslim country that was also quite liberal/secular. Never seemed to have the security problems they do now? Seems to have gotten so much worse last 3-4 years.
Turkish broadcaster NTV shows footage of tanks on Istanbul's bridges and at at entrance to Ataturk airport.

My first exposure to turkey was the movie Midnight express which showed it to be a nightmarish country with some really facked up people. The assshole of the world.
Then I read the book of the guy whose story inspired the movie and he praised the Turkish people and said they were very nice.
Then I went to Istanbul and it was amazing. Yes, a bit dodgy in parts but the people were nicer than anyone I've met in London
