So according to newspaper reports in Spain Espanyol's Pau Lopez is about to join us on loan for a 500k loan fee with the option to buy at the end of the season for 7m euros. If this is true it seems like a win win situation for us getting in a highly rated young keeper as backup whilst being able to assess him properly as to if he would make a decent replacement for Vorm in future. I remember reading that he featured in a friendly against Southampton during the preseason and pulled off some smart saves so here's hoping.

Thoughts?

surely we could not be so negligent as to move into a champions league and premier league campaign with only 3 proper cms. dembele dier and wanyama.
I mean surely even spurs cannot be so facking daft. especially with wanyama disciplinary record and dembele injury record.

You would hope that if a players is not bought, and a buyer for Bentaleb is not found, he will use the Algerian and give him a chance to redeem himself. He is comfortably a better player than any of the other options at present for me, bit I would not hold my breath.
Palace will be a huge indicator of what is to come though I think. I would be very surprised if both Wanyama and Dier start.
If we see Alli drop back I would guess it means he thinks others are not up to it, and I would expect another player in. Ditto Eriksen.
If Mason starts it is possible he thinks he has enough, although maybe if someone becomes available we could buy.
If either Winks or Onomah start in CM I do not think he will be looking to sign anyone else.

We are no gimme for any game, but I cannot see why you would expect us to lose to them to be honest

because we start slowly every season, and our pre season schedule, in my opinion, has been absolute nonsense, so I have little faith that we will put together some results for at least a month.
plus, everyone seems way too cocky for this game.. seen this 100 times before.
has 1-0 or 2-1 to palace written all over it.
probably a soft goal with which vorm should have done better.

a side in bad form is always prime candidate for an upset when they visit the lane !
