Jordan Henderson Cost

"Sky Sports revealed late on Tuesday night that a deal was in place, which is believed to be worth £20million and includes David Ngog moving to the Stadium of Light."

From SkySports

"Liverpool and the Wearsiders have confirmed that an £16m cash offer has been accepted, and that the 20-year-old will now travel to Merseyside to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms."

From Liverpool Echo

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SkySports have stated that the transfer is 'worth' £20million, and the Echo has revealed that Ngog was priced at £4million by Sunderland. So after pressing a few buttons on my calculator I can reveal that the deal must have cost Liverpool FC £16million for Jordan Henderson.

Now we can take a look at what Manchester United are spending on Phil Jones from Blackburn, and BBC and Sky have reported a price of £16.5/17million for the 19 year old. Now that is more then what we have paid for Henderson, and usually defenders come at a much more lower value then midfielders.

So this must mean that Liverpool have made the better purchase? Well it actually doesn't, and the only way we find out is in a couple of months/years....but what we do know is that two young English lads have joined two of the most succesful teams in the World.

Both signings are risks on young players but I do believe both will become good players even if they don't justify their price tags.

To be honest I dont know much about either player, It surprises me that so many people on here are so clued up about Jones and Henderson considering blackburn and Sunderland were probbly only on live tv last season a hanful of times. These fans must have the extraordinary ability to follow their own team and tune into every sunderland and blackburn match as well.

Im hapt o admit I know little about our new siging. Im grown up enough to see that both clubs have taken a gamble spending money on young and relatively unproven talent. I'm smart enough to know that only time will tell if these deals are good.

Most (not all) man utd fans are basing Jones being the best thing since sliced bread on a fantastic block he made against united the day they won the league, which is pathetic really

Its hard to tell if they'll be good anyway.

Smalling is a good case, for Fulham I saw him score an own goal and give away a couple of penatlies and look pretty much hopeless in defence but he came good.

WRONG...the total cost of this to the club is 16 million.
Ill explain!!.... Kenny has been given lets say 50 million to spend.. out of that he has now SPENT 16 million. We paid 1.5 million for NGog so you could say the transaction has cost the club 17.5 million...but as there is a new budget each season it represents a transaction of only 16 million.

The total VALUE is 20mil though.

Plus the cost of replacing N'Gog with a squad striker.

The little details hardly matter though because both signings are fairly equal risks.

You better watch out - Deloitte and Touche will be head-hunting all you financial experts soon

Value means absolutely nothing though.... only 16 million changes hands...and we dont HAVE to replace NGog at all, as we bought Carroll and Suarez who replaced one striker Torres.... all that matters is Kenny has 34 million left to Spend NET.

If you compare it to the prices that have been bandied about for Wickham and Oxdale-Chamberlain then he's a bargain

Absolutely spot on.

There is no way on this planet that the people slating Henderson have watched him play a lot. If they did yuo have to question why they have not been watching their own team.
