Me too, in that last Ferguson season he was great. Injuries were clearly a problem but I also think they were overstated, it was more a case that Moyes preferred the physicalness of Jones and Smalling while LVG simply never trusted him, especially after that penalty that never should have been.

Still to this day I don't know how the ref got both bits of that sequence of play totally wrong.

One of my fave memories of Raf will always be him out jumping Andy Carroll by at least a foot. More than once as well.

Rafael was, though rash at times, very good.

I didn't want Di Maria on the simple fact of how hard he tried to stay at RM and when that looked impossible how hard he tried to move to PSG. It was always going to fail. He, while very skillful, doesn't have the mentality to be the No. 1 player at a big club.

He didn't say otherwise.... he said ADM needed to be given time to settle at Manchester United by being played in one position. Which is different to saying that he was incapable of playing in others.

Needed could be replaced with 'should'

Rafa had the talent, was a shame his sometimes erratic behaviour rattled LvG
