Imagine that this City side really click this season and go on to win the league fairly comfortably. We come second and are good but not quite good enough and people laud Pep and City.
Would you be happy if Jose took this personally and went all 'Real Madrid' Jose and we became absolute bassstards and over the next 2-3 years played dirty and kicked City all over the pitch and eventually drove Pep to leave City much like he did when the two of them were in Spain.
We would end up the victors but it would be at the cost of our souls and our popularity (if such a thing exists with us). We'd score loads of goals and play great stuff but against City we'd do everything we could to unsettle them and it would be war on the touchline.
The reason I ask is because the other day I rewatched the highlights of when we beat Arsenal in 2004. They were the team everyone loved and played great stuff and when they rolled up looking to make it '50' we kicked them all over the pitch, dived for penalties and basically were cants but we won and I've never felt better tbh. What a day that was.
Would you be happy if we used dirty tricks and mind games to get the better of Pep?
Would you be happy with this scenario?

One of the reasons I'm glad we got Jose is that people would really hate us -even more than ever, and he'd stop short of nothing to achieve his goals. We lost our souls the minute we signed the ink, and I couldn't be happier about it. The fear factor will return to OT, we still need time. F*@k being liked, people like Bournemouth, they don't like us.

The only time there has been any fear factor at OT recently was when you had a fake bomb in the bogs. Top four is going to be a dog fight this year. I think City ain't the only ones you needd to worry about.

Pep wipes the floor with Jose. His record over Jose is crazy. I doubt we will win more than 2 out of 10 games against City under Pep. He did not drive Pep out.. Barca's crazy high expectations got to him and he needed a break. He's a 3 year manager anyway.

Mourinho had a similar hoodoo over SAF

Man City were lucky Zlatan had an off day. Stats wise we are streets ahead of Man City over first 4 games but Man City have been most efficient.

Remember Man City started better and scraped 4th more on ref decisions then ability. They were playing far better at start of last season.

Totally agree.
Far too early to say who will be good this season, saw a united fan say earlier "well finish top three easy, other than city and maybe Chelsea were better than everyone else".
Think it's going to be one hell of a scrap this season, city United Chelsea arsenal Liverpool Spurs and a few others will all be gunning for it.
It's going to be great.

You make it sound like Utd have been saints over the years and have a clean reputation to tarnish.

This was being used a stick to beat Jose with (mainly by the media) for why he isn't a "Manchester United type manager", I heard people mention his fall-outs with Rijkaard, Pep/Tito, Wenger as an example, like SAF was tepid wallflower who didn't get personal or wind anyone up....ever.
------------------------
SAF has also had his fall-outs and there was often a reason behind them, such as his winding up of Keegan in the title run-in. However, Jose has done things that step over the line in my opinion. The eye gouging incident is especially poor for me.

I think that it could be one of the most interesting seasons ever. What I am really happy about is that the money coming into the game is creating a more level playing field in the PL. Whilst the bigger clubs are always going to have more money, the other PL teams now have enough that they can attract the better players from abroad that would otherwise have moved to the likes of Inter, AC, Valencia etc. With a few wise signings the smaller PL times are able to assemble a good squad and I think that it makes for a really interesting league. Despite enjoying the success that United have had over the last 2 decades, what I really want to see is a competitive league where we don't just have a 2 horse race, as is usual, but that has 5,6 or even 7 teams going for the title and a number of smaller teams trying for the CL places.

Absolutely agree elvis.
Middlesbrough brought in negredo which is an outrageous signing for a newly promoted club, other smaller clubs have done similar business.
Makes it much more compelling knowing that literally anyone can be beaten in this league.
