Pressure?
Some of the “Sunday Supplement" Journos have claimed our players do not have a mental block when it comes to International Tournaments, but are they right? It’s just a case of either not good enough or tactically inept.
Tonight is a friendly, if a ‘never wrong’ psychic told me here and now England were going play Spain twice between now and August 2018, one of those matches would be a World Cup knock out stage match, England would definitely win one of those matches and lose the other……..I know straight away I would be thinking, we’d win the match that did not matter too much (tonight) and then lose the game where it mattered.
Leading up to the recent international competition, we beat Portugal and Germany. I think even if we selected the exact same 11s that beat those 2 teams in a tournament, I believe our players would have cracked.
Do England players 'crack' under.....

Not sure why anyone would expect any different when barely any English players actually compete in the latter stages of the highest level of knockout competition - the Champions league

If ever an OP was fully answered in one game, tonight was it. 89th minute and 2-0 up let's bottle it and draw.

look nobody plays 100% level in a friendly. England are blown away because:
a) they never organise well and never seem to prepare for the one off games. England NEVER look like they spent 6 months getting tactically right for a group game in a tournament. they always look surprised
b) players never get treated right for england. IMO the cricketers give guys more loyalty than the footballers. Some big names never get dropped true but there's constantly the medias darling getting thrown in and we get no continuity between squads
so yeah england we 2-0 up v spain on 89mins. ignore the last 2 mins.
if this was world cup group or last 16 spain would beat us handy.

Tbf, even when we have done well in the CL/European Cup, we've still be relatively poor on the international stage.

Hopefully, lesson learned by England:
"It's never over 'till it's over".
