Yeah and winning a cup final against your biggest rivals is a big motivation for a manager and player of Manchester United. Same goes for Liverpool.

Even if we assume United to be the weaker team in a head to head game...

The cup final factor would favour the weaker team more than a league fixture would.

In fairness the vast majority of United fans on this thread have said they'd sooner face Southampton as there's a better chance of winning.

And I would expect the majority of Liverpool fans would rather play Hull for the same reason.

I'm not sure JA606 is representative of your average fan...

There are plenty of United lads and lasses who will always be itching for a cup final against Liverpool. In fact, any game against Liverpool.

Yeah it's not often we play each other in cup finals so it makes it that bit more special.

Interesting point about the weaker team having the advantage.

Unless it's Arsenal, 90% of the time it's the stronger team's quality that shows through in the end.
