We should part company with him at the end of the season, I have come to this realisation for a variety of reasons.
The reality of the situation is we are now in a very close race for 2nd which Aberdeen at this moment are favourites to win in most people's eyes. This in itself is not reason enough for him to go, second place is a must and still something that is very much achievable.
The real gripes I have with him are:
1 - Transfer Business.
The reality is without signing a single player in the summer we would have had a better team than we do now. The addition of a host of frees with potential and retirees topping up their bank balances disrupted the cohesive team that had been admirably put together the previous summer.
O'Halloran - He seems to have bought him with no plan of how to utilise him. He's never been given a proper run of games and when he has played, he has failed to spark.
Barton - The less said the better, marquee signing and complete failure. Everyone knew the character of the player so why sign him if you can't handle that as well.
Garner - Most expensive signing and he is not up to it. Not really sure what it is he does bar run about a lot barging into people. One daft song certainly does not make a player. What did he sign him for when he doesn't fit the style of play and he has thus far not been pragmatic enough to change that.
Senderos - What was he thinking signing a known dud.
Kranjcar, Crooks, Dodoo and Rossiter haven't done enough to show they belong. Rossiter has obviously been unlucky with injuries but it seems to be the story with him as it was the case at Liverpool as well.
Hodson and Windass get pass marks but neither vastly improves the starting line up.
And enough of the loan Rangers. It is wasting a place in the team to develop value and a long term asset to the club. Hyndman has been good so far but would much rather he hadn't been signed and Toral has been mince.
2 - Tactics.
Pragmatism must be the order of the day at Rangers. He's wedded to a system that is too one dimensional. The best Rangers teams over the years have had a solid spine and fantastic adaptability. We have been worked out all to often and struggled to adapt. This whole plan B is doing plan A better is nonsense.
3 - Patter
His patter is awful, it sounds like he is reading the same headlines over and over again in interviews. It's the same cliche lines again and again. Say something real! Tell them they were not up to it when its clear they were not.
4. - Next Season
From the current squad, how many are of the required quality to give Celtic a real challenge. For me Foderingham, Wallace, McKay in a starting 11 then fit to play a part in the squad Holt and Miller, maybe at a push Windass, Forrester and Rossiter (if he overcomes his injuries).
We need an exceptional transfer window with whatever limited resources we have and Warburton's transfer record shows it is not a job for him.
What are the honest assessments on Warburton and the opinions on moving forward (from Rangers fans)?
Warburton

Some interesting points and for the record I agree with Smid...whatever he said .
However the only thing I would add:
from the OP: From the current squad, how many are of the required quality to give Celtic a real challenge
I'm afraid that next year I would not expect us to seriously challenge Celtic. Progress would be securing second place with a bit of a gap to third and not so far behind first place.

Good article,
Warburton and McPaland must go, I like Warburton but he's had the time and money to adjust to the demands.
No excuse for me.
On McParland the so called best in the business i beg to differ.
I think the O'halloran deal was a board room level decision to take attention away from them, and yes a useful signing to but the fans and media were eager to see money spent on a signing and at 500k it was was worth the risk.
I don't think Garner is a bad player and wouldn't look out of place in a Walter Smith 11, playing system has stiflied a few players.
we should go to a 442, with Mckay and Tav on wings, and Garner and O'halloran/Waghorn up top

M8 of mine who does the electrics at Murray Park says another major incomer in next few weeks will be big 'Tin Jim' Moffat, the Mighty Farfar Bridie, as Chief Coach. Been seen there over last few days. A man who was doing Total Football long before the Russians and a giant of comebacks and rebirths. Comrade Moffaticus: Tank Commander, as we called him. The Prince of Thieves. Will work a true transformation from the grassroots to the hair roots. Long Jim Baldy, as they called him at Raith.
BTW, a bit off-topic, but I see that Graeme Rix was with the Ross Co elite today. Wonder why. Anybody heard the story that he is the cousin of Lord Brian Rix, late King of British farce and once distinguished patron of Mencap?

I think he'll be away now. Who to replace him is the question - and how much will be given to him.
I still think Rangers will finish second in the league.
