Interesting analysis of Alexis

http://www.skysports.com/football/news/15118/10794349/alexis-sanchez8217s-running-and-sprint-stats-hint-at-arsenal-problem

Thought this was worth sharing. He may be our best player (personally still prefer Santi, RIP ) but this makes for interesting reading on his contribution this season. A lot of this may be due to his position this year, though interesting that Giroud tends to work harder. I'm sure Messi's running stats probably aren't that impressive though, so perhaps the most relevant point is Sanchez's drop off since the beginning of the season.

Stats are only part of the story. He is our most influential player and contributes to more of our goals than any other player. He has scored more in the league this season already than Giroud has EVER managed in a whole season for us.

Yup I know that this stat/article doesnt fit your agenda and you looking for excuses instead.

My heart would bleed if Alexis leaves the club but the article shows that some really should open their eyes of what happened on the pitch.

From watching the team since his arrival I would say yes he gets alot of goals and assists but I'm not necessarily sure the the number of goals and assist he alone manages actually outweighs the number of goals and assists that would be spread around the team if he wasn't in it.

I think his individual performance is good but I also think it comes at the expense of others in the team who could get the same number of goals and assists, maybe more. If the team wasn't having to make adjustments to deal with his being in the team. A great player isn't necessarily great for every team he plays in. Styles count and the way Sanchez plays has never suited Arsenal's game. Hence our game falling apart as soon as he arrived.

I think the difference in statistics can easily be explained by the change of position and the change of style that goes with it. You cannot compare the statistics of a focal point striker like Giroud to one that is facing the opposition goal like Alexis. What is more you have accept that Alexis was actually a no.10 in his career at Udinese and not a no.9. This was a transition for him as well because once again Wenger failed to buy a top class striker last summer despite a lot of huffing and puffing that he has shown since we actually signed Giroud to replace Robin Van Persie.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Except the difference in his stats has occurred over the course of this season, when he's played in the same position in pretty much every match, which negates your point however much you want to bash Giroud.

In the view of Ufo99 everything that is wrong depends on Giroud allthough he started only 10 games this season. So, dont be suprise much about his contributions.

Exactly it's not worth talking about

Sanchez has the air of a player who has realized that the rest of the team dont care. How many times do we see him pressing and no one else helping out. After some time, he very has realized that it is pointless. For a press to work, it has to be coordinated and involve the team as a whole. So he may have stopped.

The stats are misleading. Yes Sanchez loses the ball A LOT and it annoys me greatly sometimes because if his tactical vision was better, he would have a few more assists and would be an even better player. But sometimes I wonder how much he trusts his team mates and so decides to do it all by himself.

Either way, I would not be shocked or upset at him if he left. You can only play with dross for so long before you get tired of it all and want to play with better players where your efforts and talent will win you trophies.

They are different type of strikers. Do you accept that? Do you think running about in slow motion is important?

The only statistic that matters is goal scored and assists. Nothing else.
