Player Ratings

Begovic - 5: Maybe could have done better with the first goal, but it would be harsh to criticise him too much for the defeat.

Zouma - 4: Looked more comfortable at RB than he did in a back three. But can't be too harsh on him, considering he hasn't had to many games in the system.

Luiz - 5: Struggled with Rashford, in one vs one situations. However, he was one of our better players today, which isn't saying too much.

Cahill - 5: Like Luiz, struggled with the pace of Rashford and Lingard. But neither CB's had any real protection, with the midfield completely out of position, time and time again.

Moses - 4: Struggled to do anything against United going forward, and left space in behind him.

Kante - 3: Looked completely exposed today, and was out of position time and time again. Gave away the ball very cheaply in the first half. Today, we really did see his limitations.

Matic - 2: Gave away the ball very cheaply, where he constantly overran the ball, when a simple pass could have sufficed. His positioning like Kante was abysmal.

Azpi - 4: Struggled as he has never been very comfortable in possession when getting forward.

Pedro - 6: Was poor in possession, but he at least ran at players and made some runs in behind the defence.

Costa - 1: Probably one of the worst centre forward displays I have seen in a long time . Gave away the ball almost every time he got it, even in positions where he had space on the ball. United obviously made it hard for us today, and pressed brilliantly. But there were plenty of times today, when Costa had time and space, and either made a awful pass or miss controlled the ball completely. He is a complete liability to be honest.

Hazard - 5: Maybe a bit generous, but unlike some of the other players he was man marked throughout the game. It is worrying that we are still so reliant on the guy, and if we can't get him into the game, then inevitably we can't create anything. He got worse as the match went on though.

Fabregas - 6: Wasn't perfect when he came on, but offered a lot more than both Kante and Matic. People often say Kante is like two players, but unlike Fabregas, Kante can't control any tempo. If anything Fabregas looks like is two players, as he can frequently pick up positions where he has time and space on the ball.

Willian - 4: Poor, gave away the ball too much, and offered no creativity.

RLC - Not worth rating really, only on for a few minutes.



Its becoming more and more evident that a midfield pairing of Kante and Matic just doesn't work in the big games. Also Costa really needs to be dropped, or maybe sold in the summer. At his best he is a great player, but most of the time he is dire to be honest.
