He took the job on the basis of 12 months, with the option of an extension at the end of it. He knows as well as anyone that his stock is high, he knows he'll walk into another job pretty quickly - so no I'd imagine he's pretty calm actually in that respect. I'd argue he holds more aces than the club. I'm not saying it's right, I'm not saying it's ideal - but Rad may have a really good reason that he's keeping his powder dry with this. There's just speculation, perhaps rightly. Everyone is concerned and maybe with good reason.

Don't doubt for a second that I want nothing more than everything clarifying. I've argued for weeks that what the club needs is stability - across the club, not just the coach/manager. The nutcase needs to be bought out and hopefully some common sense brought to the running of the place.

Lots of people far better qualified than me were wrong last time too. ST holders of 50+ years who I sit with all hoped for more than we've subsequently got from MC and previous regimes for that matter. We live in hope ............

We don't go with the expectation of doom each time .... though in recent years perhaps we should.

The problem with a lot of folk is that dont actually read what is written, or interpret in in a way that wasn't meant.

It's clear there is a disconnect at the club and GM is being as professional as possible, yet still highlighting that there are issues.

Crazy that with the season 99% done there have been no talks whatsoever about his future.

My response is based on what I've read in other media reports along what appears to be similar lines (not exact i'll grant you) ...... and my interpretation of what I've read there. Hey ho.

It's actually a good read - the journalist has asked some serious and sensible questions and opined some reasonable possible answers but doesn't claim it as fact as far as I could tell - just a plain bit of thought provocation.

Well I managed to stay awake during the 'what is a chain of command' monologue. Was hoping for some new insight but nothing here I haven't seen before. Didn't think people would need an article like this to spot the obvious disconnect. The 'no-one is leaving in this window' ... 'I've been told (mowatt) he's leaving' embarrassment set the scene in January.

If you accept that there is a disconnect as Thornton suggests, under what circumstances would Monk look for an extension of his contract? As you rightly say, Jonty, it is ludicrous that the club has made no effort to keep him on board. It simply invites speculation and offers from other clubs, such as Sunderland, or Norwich.
What really worries me is that Radrizanni does not seem to understand what remarkable progress we have made under Monk this season. Does he really think there is someone who will come in and do a better job?
Perhaps Radrizanni has said that once Cellino goes, the investors will be in place to take the next step, which will include strengthening Monk's position. Even so, Monk strikes me as someone who is principled, for whom such an approach would undermine his confidence to continue with Leeds.
Ask yourself, if you were in Monk's position, with offers on (or under) the table, would you choose to remain disconnected at Leeds, or a part of a management team elsewhere, which actively pulls together?
Can anybody see him staying with us beyond the end of his contract?
