A few things

First off, what's going on with Diouf? Got premier league experience on loan last year but now he's back in the reserves (Scored 2 last night) looking way down the pecking order for our first 11?

Same question with Macheda?

Are they not being loaned out so they can make up our Carling Cup line up, are there no prem clubs interested or are they being given the chance in the first 11?

As for that despatches programme last night... bit of a anti-climax, at least there was no United players mentioned. The club doctor was at one point but i missed what context it was in?

Moving onto the Champions League squad, I think Rio not travelling shows how he will be getting less and less involved. Maybe time for international retirement to prolong his career?

Good job we bought Jones!

How many goals did Blackburn score last season? Diouf is the only striker we've got (besides Rooney) who can bully defenders.

He is useful infront of goal. If we loaned him to a team that created chances, he would score bucket loads.

Another player with talent allowed to rot in the reserves whilst people like Owen fill squad places

I think Diouf is looking lively and brings something new to the table... strong, good finishing, good heading, good movement, good touches around the box. What's not to like... at least wait for him to get a few CC games under his belt.

It seems to me that, as usual, our fans need a few panto villains to boo and he has somehow got into that category.

People need to remember that those Diouf and Macheda were bought in before Chico.... I don't think anyone could foresee just what an impact Chico would have... The staff probably thought that Diouf, Macheda and Chico would be fighting it out for starts.

Panto Villain?

I dont think anyone's saying he is a "panto villain" or blaming him for poor performances. He simply isnt getting any games or isnt even likley to.

We have 5 strikers, all of which are better or more suitbale of cc games.

And as I said, the guys like 24, he should of made some impact by now.

its a make of break season for him. he didnt get that much first team football at blackburn - whether that was to do with talent or the manager/owners situations there we don't know.

I would imagine one of macheda/diouf will be sold at the end of this year or possibly January

Panto Villain?

What I mean by this is that you are negatively judging him without any clear reason.

You use age (23 btw)... but Drogba was still plying his trade in league 1 in France at a similar age. He didn't turn our too badly.

Why bother writing him off before he has even really started his UTD career. Is he personally costing you any extra cash? Will we make a huge loss if we sell him?

No, but im thinking maybe at his age and with the players ahead of him it really is quite pointless to have him wasting squad space for an over 21 year old to just literally maybe get some sub games in the cc.

Owen will be gone next year (he should have gone this year)....

That leaves Rooney, Berba, Chico, Welbeck and one of Macheda and Diouf to fight it out for Owen's spot. You could agrue that we only need 4 strikers... but a 25 man squad means we can have the luxury of a 5th striker.

Diouf looks way better than Macheda right now.

Captain_Positivity (U2394) : "Diouf will NEVER be good enough for Utd, he struggled to get into Blackburn side last season."

Are you really so naive as to believe that not being selected for Blackburn is an indication of lack of quality?
Did you think Rossi was rubbish because he failed to get into a dire Newcastle side under Roeder? Is Kiko rubbish because he couldn't get into a side who were relegated from Serie A?

Your dogmatic assertion that he will "never" be good enough rather lacks credibility, given how far off your recent predictions have been.

"what about Tommy k and Gibson,do they still have something to offer the club"

Yes - Their absence.

Was 26 league appearances that bad, anyway? He didn't score many, but Blackburn were unusually poor last season and created little for him.
