BBC's take on Spurs in the transfer market

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40654071

Interesting summary of the current situation at Spurs. Certainly interesting about whether clubs should spend big or develop youth players - the article likens us to Man Utd's class of '92

Not that Man U are top 4 at the moment 😀

Rashford got chucked in because of injures or he would still not of been heard of and Lingard is gash
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kane was only chucked in because you spunked your load on Soldado and he was gash. What kind of argument is that

And Lingard has won more trophies than your whole squad
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Alderweireld has won the Dutch league 3 times, their FA Cup and the Spanish league once...so guess again shiitforbrains

What nonsense about kane

He played for England at under 16-17-18-19 and 21 level

he was always going to be atop striker and i said that 4 yrs ago

Always thought the same about Kane, could tell from his movement and positioning against Hearts he had talent and just had to improve on his finishing which he certainly did!

So,.... if the "Spurs model" is so successful, why aren't the other contenders, like City, Chelsea, United and Arsenholes following Suit?
Nope, they're all out buying big guns.
City are buying Danilo and just buying Walker.
Go figure that! Two RB's.

I dont think the big owners and managers believe in the "Tottenham Levy Lewis model".

Well Chelsea and City are only where they are because of oil money. Arsenal have had success but not in the league for over a decade. United have stagnated and Mourinho only knows how to spend money.

This is Poch's model and DL has given him his head, we should be proud of our team and how well they have performed and hopefully we will see trophies soon.

Football spending is in my opinion out of synch both with the working fan and with society in general.

I think we could see some clubs in great financial difficulties in the next few years.

Sky are losing customers and their business model will ultimately level out or even decline. BT have spent a lot of money but need to keep their subscription low or more people will switch off.

There is no doubt that spending in football has gotten ridiculous. Clubs have to spend to remain competitive. Levy & Lewis seem to think they can "beat the system" or change it entirely, by simply refusing to play.
But this strategy forces them into last minute deals which are fraught with the drawbacks described in the BBC article on Spurs.
We have a very crowded schedule of games in different competitions, including the Champs league. We won't compete with a thin squad. One or two injuries and we'll be a mid table team.
Not a good outlook.

I hope L&L come to their senses and leave it to someone else to bring the prices down.

Don't know why people are worrying, we finished second with record points and we didn't have Kane for 1/4 of the campaign and our young players are more experienced.

Yeah we've lost Walker but didn't look any worse without him towards the end of the season so I don't see why we won't perform brilliantly once again.

Which young players, the young players in the first team who played a lot last season - and not many of them are actually young - or those who've never made their PL debuts?

Being more experienced doesn't change the fact that we lack strength in depth!
