Whenever we win the title we manage to shoot ourselves in the foot, Last time round we brought in Baba, Falcao and Alexandre facking Pato and started of the league campaign with the exact same starting 11 as the previous year.
So far this year we've let players like Terry and Begovic leave whos careers have come to a natural conclusion with the club and on paper replaced them with Caballero and Christensen, decent enough business... But then you look at the business that follows...
- Matic being sold to Utd of all teams.
- Ake sold before we even brought in a replacement and now we are desperately trying to sign Sandro, Who wont come.
- Chalobah for £5m was a joke but to then look to sign Drinkwater for 6 times the amount
- Telling Costa, One of the best strikers in the league, He wasn't needed and now we'll sell him for pretty much what we bought him for even though in this market he's a £70m+ striker
I had to laugh yesterday when I seen our squad in the match day programme we had like 21 Players... 5 of whom wont get near the starting 11 and Costa was in there too, along with 3 keepers. I just cannot understand how we've ended up leaving an already thin squad this light 1 week before the league begins and with CL football to play too. We literally need another 3-4 big signings and its a joke considering the money we've already spent.
How Granovskaia, Emenalo and Buck are still being trusted with transfers I'll never know.
Why do we always do this?

Matic wanted to leave or was surplus to requirements? Point being even if they want to leave why should the club just let them leave? Sanchez wants to leave, Arsenal will hold on to him, Koulibaly wanted to leave, Modric wanted to leave, Alex Sandro wants to leave... But their current employers had/have them tied down to a contract so why should we bend over backwards for players wanting to leave?
We sold Cech to Arsenal, Matic & Mata to United, Lukaku to Everton, I just can't grasp why our club doesn't realise the knock on effect this can have to our own ambitions of winning trophies, Matic to Utd makes them genuine title contenders.

Is that right? That must explain why none of those player's have won or even challenged for a title since leaving us while we have walked two, you have a strange definition of the meaning knock on affect.

And United aren't title contenders, season to soon.

I can understand the frustration. We do exactly the same thing every time we win the title.
The only difference in our case is that's once every 132 years!

We should sign Bale,Barkley and Ox plus one more striker such as Bony or Benteke.

Bale wouldn't come to us, Utd will be all over him like a rash.
Is Barkley any better than Baker? He'd cost in excess of £50m.
I'm on board with the Ox but that link appears to have faded away.
Wheres Bony even at these days?
No thanks to Benteke

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Really not that big a deal. Bought in a younger player who suits the system more for the same money. As far as United goes, it gives them options but no guarantee he'll give them anything they don't already have. Unless Mourinho changes it up, all forcing Matic into the team week in week out will do is push Herreira (one of their stars last season) or Mata to the bench.
- Ake sold before we even brought in a replacement and now we are desperately trying to sign Sandro, Who wont come.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Ake isn't a WB, he was CB cover which we've addressed by signing Rudiger - a more proven player.
- Chalobah for £5m was a joke but to then look to sign Drinkwater for 6 times the amount
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Money is moot, Drinkwater's a better player, it's an upgrade if it happens.
- Telling Costa, One of the best strikers in the league, He wasn't needed and now we'll sell him for pretty much what we bought him for even though in this market he's a £70m+ striker

That I agree with. We should've cashed in last window when 80mil was on the table, my opinion. And while I initially didn't think it was a big deal that he was told he'd be surplus I'm slowly changing my mind given he hasn't moved. Hopefully a compromise can be reached (similar to Eto'o/Guardiola in 2008) and he stays on until January at least.

We would not have won the title had we sold him in January though.
