After a couple of games i have seen confirmed what I already knew. That we remain unbeaten in the cup and we are a top six side.
Brentford lost their league game, 1-0. Away to Sheffield United. After that a Watkins stunner in extra time to send them into the pot.
We both rested our League squads and so their extra time won't have a tiring effect. We should both be fresh for the 20 degree heat. With the forecast of outbreaks of sunshine, resulting in a great playing surface, unaffected by both rain and play. As it has been unused this season.
The old master of Brentford's success, our very own Mr Warburton, is now pitted against what he helped to create. A side, like ourselves that are looking to pass the ball into oblivion. Their just a lot farther further down that road than we are.
They have a big defence and a lightweight midfield. So we're quite similar. Up front we have options of going medium, large, extra large and super sized with Cumdog, Brereton, Vellios or Murphy.
My lineup based on who was rested and what I'd like to see based on our performances:
Smith
Darikwa Worral Mancienne Traore
Vaughan
Bouch Osborn
McKay Brereton Cummings
Evtimov, Mills, Lichaj, Carayol, Dowell, Clough, Vellios,
Missing out: Fox, Hobbs, Cohen, Murphy
Brentford away is a tough ask so early in the season, but we do have the quality to win the game.
An optimistic prediction of 2-2 Cummings, Vellios

You could see the attention to the passing element, right from the keeper up to the top where the forwards we're continually looking for the killer pass. Noteably passing the ball forwards, not sideways or backwards...! Encouraging early signs.

Very good signs in midfield and forward positions but our defence is dodgy and we won't be pushing for play offs because we'll concede too many goals unfortunately. I don't know if it's the set up or the players but I'm sure the manager will sort it out.

Yes, might get pegged back in a few too many games to hope for more than a top ten place as it stands. MW seems up for the challenge of improving the squad, though. So nice to be talking about just the football and not what calamity is likely to befall the Reds behind the scenes next....

I'm quite hopeful that an actual rivalry will ensue this season as we transistion under a new manager and he goes about the business of shipping out the perennial failures and bringing in his own players; it is no fun at all to see your rivals floundering quite as badly as you were under Fawaz and there's a real edge back in the rivalry stakes.
Hopefully the derbies will be competitive and I doubt either you or us would be confident going into them; we will both be top half this year so it'll be an interesting side-bet to see which team finishes higher. With neither relegation nor promotion liiking likely to be on either of our radars, the East Midlands rivalry will come to the fore and I for one hope that 606 will be a decent banterground again because of it, you mangey tossbags you.

Over the last 10 years there have been 9 wins for Derby 6 to Forest and 3 draws. While the overall record stands at Forest 39 wins and Derby 37
both teams have completed the league double once.
basically, the derby games has been a 50/50 game for a long time and the fact neither team is good enough to be promoted is hardly news......
thanks all the same

One could almost garner from 666's comments that he is worried that the red phoenix will arise from the Fawaz ashes and be a force once more. He is damming us with faint praise.
He has found himself some new golfing chums, that only have one arm and other such handicaps, as he got tired of me humiliating him on his own course, week in week out.
So I've a bit of spare time so got myself a season ticket.

Strett, so you have met the man behind the 666?
is he really as ugly as the rest of the Derby board suggest????

I've not swung a bat since December!
A recurrence of my shoulder injury has waylaid my meteoric rise through the golfing ranks, and unfortunately coincidd with my paying upfront for an annual membership of my local golf club; possibly the most expensive pair of rounds ever, coming in at around £400 each!
I'm not worried by the resurgence of the reds; I welcome it. Healthy competition drives us all on, and the bi-annual Taking Candy From Babies ceremony is a minor casualty from our calendar.

No Bunk, he has met me; a subtle but important difference.
He hounded me for many a month to play golf with him, so I gave in and have shown him the ropes a few times; it gets a tad embarrassing but I see it as a charitable gesture and he gets a few hours in my company to brag to his mate about.
Ugly? If you were to meet Vidal then you would have a datum.

Strangely, I don't find that the least bit surprising!
