MotDs Best Ever Prem Goal..er FOOLISHNESS!

Don't normally create articles, but felt compelled.
So let's run it up the flagpole and see if anyone salutes....here goes..

Ok, Just seen MOTD best ever Prem Goal competition.
Yeboah/Bergkamp/Henry/Rooney/Wilshire.
What were they thinking, none of those chosen goals would make my final list.
(Bergkamps would be close though)
So how did it come to this. And who the hell voted.
Wiltshire?! Really?! Yes a quality goal but come on seriously.
No Shearer. No... !!.. oh man the list is endless.
Where do you stand, do you agree with the final list, and who would you have put there in the final 5?

Honestly think that Henry goal against Man U is the greatest and most underrated goal of the PL eta. I still think it is the single most difficult to execute of many of these frequently shortlisted goals. I don't rate Beckham's halfway strike that highly. Any plodder on a good day across all the football divisions can do it. Rooney's instinctive overhead was great too, but hardly some bit of technical wizardry.

Henry took a pass around the edge of the box, backing the goal and marked on all sides with absolutely nothing on. It wasn't even a quarter chance. All in one fluid, rapid, elegant move, he flicked the ball up, swiveled on the spot and buried a sweet floating volley with the defenders and keeper rooted to the spot with no time to react. The vision to think of doing it in a fraction of a second and technical execution makes it the best for me.

Pretty sure the RVP from the Eboue cross wasn't in there either.

It's another goal that gets overlooked. Stunning technique and precision; the way he got his knees over the ball. It didn't even win goal of the season. It's better than frequently shortlisted volleys like Scholes against Villa (I think).

I don't think Henrys Goal made the list. You talk about perfection, that Henry goal was absolutely sick!
And that's the goal I'd pick him for.
When that happens against your team, it takes a long while to appreciate that goal. I mean really appreciate it.
I just wanted to get a consensus on whether people agreed with the final list.
Ok bergkamps. I'll give you that. But the rest...hmmmm nah.

Shaun Bartlett once scored a very similar goal to RVP's one against Villa, but this hardly gets mentioned.
-----------------------------

Bartlett's was a nice volley, but it was a lot closer in than RVPs. Alo, I think I am correct in saying that the ball came from the right wing area rather than a central position, thus he was able to watch the balls trajectory more easily and strike across the ball. Still a lovely volley, but RVP's against Villa and Charlton were both better for me.

Le Tissier could have had about 5 or 6 entries of his own. I love the one where it gets knocked down to him from the left wing and he brings it under control with his heel, pokes it past one opponent on the volley, clips it over another (like Gazza on Henry) and then just casually rolls it in the bottom corner. A goal like that for me is better than Henry's volley (as spectacular as it was) because it isn't just a moment of genius, but rather 4 pieces of skill in quick succession.

Didn't some team score after 21 passes? I'm sure that happened. Wasn't it Chelsea? Or have I made that up. Can't find anything when I searched. But kept coming across Liverpools 51 passes to Sterling in the cup!
Surely that would've been a contender?!
51!?

I personally would have had Cisse's goal against Chelsea over Rooney's overhead.

Scholes once topped off a 32 pass move against Panathinaikos with a lovely floated chip. Obviously in the wrong competition, but it was a nice goal.

I think we all can pick out goals far superior to those that made the final 5, the only one in there that deserved to be was Henry's.
