Van Persie's a few years ago with that volley first time with the pass flying over his shoulder from about half the pitch before he connected with it. The skill needed for that is insane

Yeboahs was a great strike. But that was over 20 years ago.
There's been better.
I'd have Jimmy Floyd and his head decapitating shots in there alone!
I think maybe that's in for nostalgia. But yes it was a great goal. They are all quality goals.
But the Rooney overhead, nah, I'd have his goal at 16 v Arsenal.

Yep. His goal against Newcastle at The Dell was sublime if he played for a bigger club it probably would win these types polls every time, could say the same with his strike at Blackburn.

It's been 25 PL years, so BBC split it into five 5-season periods, and did a vote for each period of the Goal of the Season winners within that period.

The 5 winning goals were then pitted against each other.

Wilshere vs Norwich is definitely the best PL goal.

Le Tissier vs Newcastle, Giroud vs Palace, Figueroa and a Rooney goal would be my Top 5.

Zola flick was the cup

Crouch's volley against City was a bit special and deserves a mention. Also Beck's from the halfway line.

And Bentley against Arsenal was a sweet strike too.

Rooney overhead is easily the best. Not only the quality of the strike and accuracy of it but it decided a close game against arch rivals.

Wilshere and Bergkamp goals were a thing of beauty but the importance and quality of opponents have to be considered too.

RVP's volley takes some bearing for me in terms of sheer technique.

They were voting for the best goal of a 25 year period. The winning entry had to be more than good, or great, they have to be iconic.

When you talk about the Yeboah strike, or the Le Tissier one, I can picture instantly pretty much everything about those goals. As would most supporters of Bergkamp's, no matter what their allegiance,

Kasami vs Palace? Figueroa, Bentley, Giroud?

Nah.

Scholes' vs Villa should have made the top 5 for that 5 year era.
