It was a match we needed a performance and result in, to avoid a continuing run of poor games.

If the club knew about his ribs then it's scandalous to be honest - especially with a player like Vieira on the bench. He's O'Kane not a Vinnie Jones type character (who'd struggle with cracked ribs!). If it's the player who tried to be tough, or avoid losing his place in the side, then it's equally poor.

Pretty shocked by the news ... when I first read it I thought he'd cracked them during the game, I'm stunned it was a pre-match injury and he was deemed fit to play.

If this is seriously true, then stupid by player and club.

Cracked ribs is pretty serious and painful.

Had people tell me how painful bruised ribs are yet alone cracked ones.

cracked ribs only heal with rest... and lots of it, done mine enough times and I'm only amateur - pro sportsmen should know better !!

I've broken ribs before and its by the far the most painful thing I've ever had. That was as a kid and ever since then they've not been right, anytime I get a knock on them its agony for weeks after, and that's just bruising.

He shouldn't have been playing, 100%....bad decision

Poot decision to start him in those circumstances .got to be better than this.Vierra more than capable of stepping in too which makes it worse.

I wonder whether Vieira has been carrying a knock for awhile now so has not been played.
