Squad depth is worrying atm.

On the back of my mate, Jonty's thread - Football finances............Who in our 1st team would make it into the match day squad of Swansea, West Brom or even Southampton? We will need a squad who has time to gel & then multi millions to compete, even then spending millions does not guarantee, ask Villa.

Imagine we do get promoted ( yeah right ) we would need a lot, I mean a lot of quality brought in & the amount we need may not gel so quickly etc......I don't believe we are ready as yet. While of course I want promotion, who wouldn't ? but it may not be best for the club right now.

Wiedweld is nowhere near capable enough to be in a premier league squad.

The days of having Mark Beeney on the bench are long gone, premiership clubs want world class goalkeepers on their bench.

What absolute nonsense. Most PL clubs either have an average foreign keeper or an average home grown keeper on the bench. Exceptions for Bravo and Romero at Man City and Man Ut, but even then, Bravo was signed as first choice. Also maybe Vorm at Tottenham, but again he's an average veteran.

Stekelenburg At Everton - experienced Dutch international

McCarthy at Southampton - keeper who loads here want to sign

Green at Huddersfield - way better than

Add to that the reserve keepers at the top 6-7 clubs

None of these players are average and all are better

Then add to that other clubs have keepers myhill and grant who who are way better than felix and have a booklet load of experience too

Swansea have a Swedish international,

Felix wouldn’t even make the bench for a premiership team, none of them would leave their faith in such a weak keeper

Green is average. So is McCarthy. Just because they'd be alright for us doesn't mean they are any better than average. Nordfeldt is crap. Stekelenburg is past his time (I thought Joel was their second choice.). Caballero is nothing special. Krul is a veteran. Darlow/Elliott are nothing special. Speroni is a veteran. Pope was a lower league keeper.

Average? - Rob Green had a stint as England first choice

Green is an England international and was the best keeper in this league last year, only cause he is old dosent mean he had lost it.

Green was an England international many years ago. He isn't a first choice PL keeper. He is average at that level.

Green was brilliant for us last season, apart from a few bloopers.

Easy good enough this season, maybe next year will be one too far.

Good keepers are easy to find IMO, so many in the world and only one spot in each team. I wouldn't be worried about going up and staying up. We'd make 100's of millions

Being second or third choice doesn’t make you an average keeper.

It makes you a good keeper who isn’t playing because clubs in the premiership don’t want average guff on their benches they want and need better than that
