From the official explanation:
1. the shield is seen as an emblem of “20 years of mediocrity".
Emblems don’t change performance.
Our emblem has been one of the few constants through a turbulent period.
Fans have been craving consistency during this owner and managerial roundabout lunacy.
Says to me .... keep the essence. Tinkering is acceptable.
2. The use of the initials ‘LUFC’ and the absence of the words ‘Leeds United’ felt like poor marketing; a failure to properly display the club’s name.
Sounds reasonable.
But then recollected the numbers of fellow fans who have experienced instant recognition of the badge on their travels around the world.
And the realisation that a total rebrand means total worldwide re-education. Many companies use/market on initials. It’s actually a bit of a fad. Eg HSBC, AOL, etc. Having been involved previously in such an exercise, I can assure that the cost will be millions, and that just to get to the level we are already at.
But the main reason I believe the perception of the need for the team name, not initials, might be wrong..??
FCB .... check out their badge.
Yeah, winning helps. But it don’t half put a big dint in the argument.
3. The white rose has always been popular.
The word here is ‘always’.
They talk about the rebrand not being just for the centenary but forever.
So it’s totally wrong to try and force/encourage a direction that has no starting iniertia.
Even Peacocks and Smileys. Rationale for both understood, but from a day gone by with no modern day connection.
The Yorkshire Rose does and always has connected us. No other team in Yorkshire ‘own’ it like us. It’s almost part of our ‘top dog in Yorkshire’ mantra, irrespective of whether it’s true or not.
Re-consultation has been promised.
However, maybe it should start with a re-examination of the whole basis for a rebrand in the first place??
Wrong reasons for badge change ?

Andrea seems to listen to the fans, I trust he wont carry on with this....honestly I'm 99% certain this wont go ahead.
We've been mugged off by Zenit and Zamalek for god sake

Kinnear disregarded fans at both West Ham and arsenal and guess what, both clubs had badge changes against fans will. People try to repeat what they think they did well and hes trying it here.
Have no problem with marketing as long as it represents people’s core values, either the company and/or the fans.
Completely anise do surveys to find out how people want them to be when actually people want people (and companies) to be themselves ie be genuine not what someone else thinks they should act like.
Any good football club should know the heritage, know what the club stands for and know how the fans see the club.
It’s not hard for leeds
Pride of Yorkshire
Best team in europe Under Revie
Loads of cups and titles won
1919
Fans who have stuck through everything through thick and thin.
From that it’s easy to come up with images that can form a great badge.

Jonty, yes at WH & $rse he made a slight change, this is a complete rebranding, a complete overhaul, which is vile.
My worry is that it won't change too much from the original design & fans will buy as it is the centenary year.

The new Arsenal and West Ham badges were decent changes and probably didn't have mass protests with 70000 signatures in 12 hours.
This is a different scale and if they go through with it, it undoes everything good they done so far.
I cant see Andrea risking it.

Think they are defo wanting 'Leeds United' not LUFC on it. which is fair enough.
i mean its pretty easy concept.
draw a circle
put leeds at the top and united at bottom
19 on left 19 on right
and in middle white rose.
job done.

70k counts for nothing when you keep saying 10k liked it and we’ve also had positive feedback since.
He’s just ignoring the petition.
Changes were smaller at arsenal and West Ham yes but fans still hated them and they went through regardless. Kinnear ignored the fans there right now he’s saying the minimum and saying fans should trust him.

It’s a marketing ploy for the Far East. Ask anyone there what LUFC stands for and I bet more that 75% say Liverpool or Leicester.
They want Leeds United in it for that reason alone.
