Wilshere

Jack Wilshere reportedly gave Arsenal another chance to offer improved contract. He refused previous offer which would take a 25% wage cut to his current contract.
-----------------------------------
Jack is 100% right to request better offer. He came from academy, he is Arsenal fan, and what matters most he is great player who proved can have a season without injuries.
Van Persie is one player who comes to my mind. He was more injured than playing and Arsenal never gave him wage cut. Van Persie is just exmaple there are loads of players with similar situation at Arsenal.

Our wage bill is absolutely insane. Was already pushing £200m with last year's financial report, but despite misssing out on CL football this season, our half-season financials indicate we have STILL managed to add to the wage burden. And that was before Ozil got £350k a week.

At some stage, someone has to put his foot down, look around the mediocre collection of players and ask himself how the fack this squad pays almost double Spurs' wages when it's hard to pick ONE player in our team that would start for them. Wilshere has no real moral right to ask for a wage increase considering he was on £90k a week for years while contributing absolute fack all to the team.

Why do you care? Thats up to Gazidis and Kroenke to work out.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

What does that even mean? Why does anyone here care about anything?

Why are you worried about the finances?

Wilshere is the most overrated player Arsenal have had in my lifetime. He's not a bad player, but he's hardly a world beater and doesn't do enough to justify the hype of his fans. Whether due to injuries or whatever, he has no made an inch of progress since he was 18/19. Hell, he was a better player at 19 than he is now. Doesn't score. Doesn't assist and creates very little. Has little physical presence to impose himself on any decent sides. Average stamina. Doesn't win many tackles or interceptions compared to other midfielders at the club. I'm not a fan of Ramsey, but I'd much rather keep him than Wilshere. Wilshere in my opinion is just about an Everton or Southampton-level player.

He has that unique ability of looking decent when everyone around him is looking sheite because he likes to dribble past players. This does nothing to make the team move the ball better, and can seem individualistic. He has no end product to go with that dribbling.

I agree that our wages are astronomical however that's what you have to pay if you want to stay competitive. Our support would soon moan if we weren't paying the going rate to players and they then decided to go elsewhere (Nasri and Adebayor spring to mind).

I agree that our players are inferior to Spurs (certainly as a team if not individually anyway) but that is more down to how we are coached and managed then their ability. For example, there must be a reason why many of out players are sought after by Man U for example - as Jose knows he'd get more out of them then Wenger ever would.

Wilshere isn't perfect by any stretch and could be improved upon. However, he's better than Xhaka, Elneny and on a par with Ramsey who you can bet will be offered more cash than Wislhere. He's proved his injury issues are over (at least for now) so deserves pay parity with players of a similar standing. I mean ok, don't give the lad a massive pay increase but to lower his basic is taking the pee out the lad.

He's decent at the moment (nothing more) but could be excellent if he stays injury free. Many other Managers will covet him in the summer if we don't offer him a better deal so let's not dig our heels in for the sake of 20k a week which is peanuts when it will cost us 30m plus to replace him.

One of the stupidest posts I've ever read on this forum.

I nearly stopped when you said mourinho gets more out of players than Wenger (de bruyne, salah the best two players in the league did fack all under mourinho whilst last year's best played imo sanchez looks like trash under him) I'm glad I didn't stop as I got a laugh out of the other snippets of nonsense you wrote
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So you are basing your whole opinion on Jose on this season? So his achievements in the past don't count?Do you honestly think that with the players we have we'd be in this dreadful position under Mouriniho, Pep, Klopp or Poch?

Incidently I hate Jose with a passion and wouldn't have him at the club for various reasons but to suggest he doesn't get more out of players than Wenger is nonsense.

By the way, sticking a laughing emoji and being knee jerk to something you don't agree with is one of the reasons why this forum is going to the dogs. Have a view by all means but try not to be childish when responding.

Because it is the club he supports perhaps? I'm also interested in our finances, shirt sponsors, ground capacity, training facilities, what tea the players drink...... it's what we do as fans, buy into the club and stuff that is going on within it. How we do on the pitch is the main thing obviously but the rest is still of interest to us - especially the money side.

Have seen our P/E ratio? Just go and see and then you will understand club finances are not material to any supporter of a club in the top echelons.

Before 2012 I used to critique them and I am sure that Swiss cheese fella made a living from telling other supporters to cry in their cup-a-soup. Before 2002 I was a shareholder and returns mattered to me. Now any club in the top 10 in the world does not need to worry about finances. Major shareholders look at clubs as nothing more than giant vanity buys.

Of course finances matter, if we waste money we have less to spend in the future. All the clubs are rich so it's about spending smart. Last few years we spent too much on average players.

For a normal business, I would agree. But not football. Which is why I suggested people need to look at P/E ratios of top clubs like Arsenal.

Wenger now comes out & says he is pushing Wilshere to sign his contract & is very keen for him to stay - and of course we are trying to “push” him to stay by cutting his basic salary & still saying that position is non-negotiable - it’s almost as though our club is trying to look incompetent...

Its an obvious negotiation position. Arsenal know that Wilshere will find it difficult to get the money he wants elsewhere. Arsenal are willing to take the chance that he walks. Wilshere desperately wants to play in the world cup for that reason. And it would suit Arsenal if he doesn't.
