Wilshere

He is a West Ham fan.....

I agree that he should look out for himself and get the right deal, but that said, he has never really been the player we hoped he would be, so if he goes he goes..

Arsenal could do far better than Wilshere... Giving the club another chance to offer him a deal I'd tell him where to go.

Wonder if Wenger would take a cut.

It's an odd situation and not one you hear about often with a player is in his 20's unless the club's been relegated.

Arsenal are beyond stupid to ask Jack to take a pay cut while paying Ozil 350K a week.... Hope he tells them to do one

Agree, although I think he's a decent player, the club have stood by him despite injury after injury, providing medical care and paying him. Bizarre stance from Jack.

Good point. Wengers wages were based on him finishing in the top 4 getting us to CL every year but this will be the second year he has failed to et top 4 with only an EL win being possible for CL qualification. I dont think its unreasonable to expect him to do the same and take a 25% wage cut. I'm sure he can manage on £6m a year.

Should at least offer him the same wages

What are your views on Theo? Good start but appears to have fallen away recently.

Arsenal should sell him and bring in a better player. Jake Livermore springs to mind

How can you sell him when he’s out of contract in 3 months you mef?

whenever ive seen Arsenal play Wilshere has normally been one of their better players.

He's a good player, but he can Fack off if he's asking for a big increase. The club has backed him throughout all his injuries, a pay cut with incentives is more than fair.

I understand he's looking after himself though, if he gets a better deal elsewhere than good luck to him.

Doing well in a side low on confidence. Having Coleman back will help him.

Last season he put his England career before Arsenal and pretty much forced through a season long loan deal with Bournemouth.

Such commitment to the club that stood by him through injury, after injury...

Letting Wilshere go on a free with the way he’s playing (often our best player) is crazy, I cannot believe the club could be so stupid and shows a mass clear out of the club management is required - not just the hapless Wenger - good grief, the lack of judgement is scary...

Wenger is still the one who decides if a player is going to get a new contract or not.

Or he would just not pick the player causing their value to plummet. Considering that players get all sorts of bonuses when they sign contracts it is vital for the club to recover at least their intrinsic value.

This is why managers have lost power. A manager refusing to select a player can have a huge knock on the club finances. Especially if the player is on a long contract.

The 25% pay cut is misleading though. If he stays fit and plays, he would get more than what he currently is on with the added bonuses.
Given his injuries record, for once I think the club are doing the right thing.
Also, which club would be willing to give him what he want?

Yes but that would only be fair if all players had pay as you play clauses in their contracts. For example, Ramsey is injury prone and I doubt if his new offer will have similar clauses inserted.

Wilshere is quite right to expect some sort of parity with other first teamers of a similar ilk. Perhaps not Ozil but certainly Ramsey who has shown similar loyalty to the club

why is Ozil held in such high esteem ? He's dog shlt in every single big game arsenal play. Perhaps he should have been given incentives ala Jack for every game he plays where he isn't totally invisible

Despite all his injuries, Ramsey avering 35 games (all competitions) per season, most of them being 40+.
Whereas Wislhere tend to average 25 games per season. Big difference there.

Many clubs especially if he keeps fit, is selected and has a good world cup. Wilshere despite his occasional hooka is captain material.

An English club needs the odd good English player.

And as Xhaka's difficulties to control tempo shows there are very few players who can do that successfully in midfield. Santi Cazorla was one and Jack is another.
