On Friday 6th April league leaders Wolves travel to South Wales to take on second placed Cardiff City. The game has a 7.45 kick off time and will be played in front of the Sky TV cameras.
With 6 points separating the two sides, this game could be billed as the ultimate ‘6 pointer’. If Wolves were to win this game automatic promotion and the league title would be tantalisingly close. A win for Cardiff, closing the gap to 3 points would be a huge boost in their bid for the title and would move them further away from the chasing pair of Fulham and Aston Villa who have away games at Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich respectively, the following day.
Both Wolves and Cardiff drew their last games with Cardiff preceding their draw with 4 wins and Wolves with 3 wins. With both sides in such similar form and both having everything to play for, a draw is surely the most likely outcome for this game.
Wolves’ lacklustre performance against Hull on Tuesday was widely regarded as being as a result of being without midfielder Ruben Neves and wing-back Matt Doherty, undoubtedly the two most creative outlets in the Wolves squad. Both will be in the starting line-up on Friday and Doherty in particular will have benefitted from a short rest as he has been involved in every league game since the start of the season and international action for the Republic of Ireland.
With five fixtures remaining after this one, Wolves have home games against Derby County, Birmingham City and Sheffield Wednesday plus two away games at Bolton and Sunderland. Cardiff’s remaining fixtures are 4 away games against Aston Villa, Norwich, Derby and Hull with one home game against Nottingham Forest. On this evidence Cardiff would appear to have a significantly harder run in than Wolves making the result of this game even more important for the Bluebirds.
Gem’s prediction: 1-1

Over the years wolfie has often put up posts that are off topic and nothing to do with Wolves. He also often posts criticism of people putting up posts that are off topic or nothing to do with Wolves. C’est la vie

Actually was busy with the family, mother in law is battling leukaemia and was awaiting bone marrow test results, but we all good ! Kemo is attacking the problematic cells and although still palliative, life expectancy is increased

Finding a better Championship manager than McCarthy won’t be easy for Ipswich. And they certainly won’t have found the right man if they appoint Pardew
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But yet he is a better premier league manager than McCarthy.
Complete belle end though
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Probably not. He has lived off one good season with Newcastle for a long time. Other than that he has a pretty poor record with some otherwise well established Premier League clubs.
He is just lucky to have got himself onto the managerial merry-go-round they have up there.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Didn't he get West Ham promoted then take them to the top half in their first season up as well? And a few play off sides also, one we beat with Jones (?)
Personally I don't think he will jump back in the pool after the WBA shambles though he may feel he has a point to prove I suppose.
