Good to have another FA cup this season and to be the most successful team in London this season.
Let's hope we strengthen in the summer and make a push for the league and Europa next year.

I do see your point Nick but I just get a feeling you would be saying the opposite if you made the CL and not won the article.

yeah can see how you'd think that, but has been my viewpoint for a fair few years. Especially since we've had a team I feel could not challenge in the CL which is the case now.

Yeah that's fair enough. I would be very happy for Spurs to win the FA cup next year if it means missing out on CL. Also like you say, the Europa is a decent cup to win as well and would love Spurs to win that as well. Just win something Spurs ffs!

The top 4 isn’t an achievement in itself, it’s the opportunity to progress. Admittedly the money in the EPL now means the CL cash-cow is less important than it was but it’s still pretty important. The revenue it brings and the fact players aspire to play in the competition means top 4 is still important.
I’m sure Chelsea will make signings anyway but it would be easier if you had CL football to offer. The reduced revenue just widens the financial gap between city, United and everybody else.

You say that, but how many years have we had CL football and still had a terrible year after (when we finished 10th). I think with so many different revenue streams it does not matter much.

Slightly different issue surely? Balancing the demands of multiple competitions is something every top side needs to get to grips with at some point. Usually indicates a lack of squad depth, something you need money to sort out...
Apparently Chelsea got circa 61m Euro from the CL this season. Losing that isn't disastrous I'm sure but it's a gap to fill especially when you're likely to have to pay off Conte and go back into the transfer market this summer.
I say all of this as a fan of a club who has struggled to CL football in recent years. All very well saying you're not fussed about it for a season but as Liverpool know, catching up without it can be tough. One season can easily become two or three.

I disagree with the CL argument, the last 2 title wins we had we've found it hard getting our first choice targets... Pogba, Sandro, Koulibaly and Bonucci to name a few.

1 star article with petty point scoring.

Koulibaly and Sandro as Chelsea defenders would be amazing to have for a change.
