Ok. Let's cut to the chase. It's time for Owen Coyle to prove his worth as a manager. Ditch the dogged resistance to stand by the old guard and make some poper decisions on team selection.
It's so easy to pick on the lower profile players like Eagles and Mark Davies for non-selection. Let's see you show some balls and drop some of the so called high profile names. My candidates are Jaaskelainen ( done his bit in the past but now going down the drain faster than an emptying bath), Robinson (still enthusiastic but being shown up regularly now), Knight ( gone back to Megson form, a non-marking, non-tackling centre half), K Davies (same comments as for Jaaskelainen).
I'm sick of hearing the comment about players being loyal servants and look at their past contribution. All good things come to an end and there is no room for sentiment. I can't get away with previous year's performances at work. If I ain't doing the business right here right now then questions are asked and I have no doubt that I would be shown the door if things didn't pick up and soon.
In yesterday's programme I counted 27 outfield players on the team picture and that doesn't include the youngsters like Riley, Vela, Connolly. O'Halloran and Eaves. Plenty of options there then. Not exactly a small squad.
Make no mistake, if these tough decisions aren't taken then then the 'R' word will almost certain become reality. The longer some of our supporters and our manager live in cloud cuckoo land the worse it will get.
And before I get accused of negativity I would counter that is a hefty dose of reality. Let's face it, the longer we leave things as they are, the less time we have to play catch up when the penny finally drops and by then it could well be too late.
It's Time For Coyle To Manage

"Ditch the dogged resistance to stand by the old guard and make some poper decisions on team selection."
I think that's a fair comment.
BUT
I only agree on the Knight and Davies comments..
Jussi & Robinson need to stay in for now, because there is no one better to replace them..

....Yes...Jussi will HAVE to stay between the sticks now, seein' as we sold the only other (better) keeper option we had, to Wigan
You don't have to have a team of 11 star players to make a big impression in the Prem (our 4 Top 8 finishes prove that) but you have to be able to put out a team that's tough and very well drilled ..and KNOWS how to deal effectively with the opposition of the day, by counteracting their strengths, and exploiting their weaknesses.
OC needs to do extra homework on that, and try n' foster a bit more ' seige mentality ' back into the Reebok camp. It's no coincidence that when Bolton were one of the most disliked (and feared) teams in the Premiership ..we were also the most successful

Can't fault that logic FOTG, but its also our job as supporters to do our part in creating that siege mentality feel to the Reebok. And we can only do that by getting behind the team 100% and out singing the opposition fans week in, week out. You only have to look at Stoke over the last few seasons to see the difference that the fans as the proverbial 12th man can make.

My thoughts exactly.

Without selling Al Habsi our attacking options would be Blake, Davies, Klasnic and Tuncay.
N'Gog is more vital than Ali IMO, also Ali isn't that great. He's capable, but No better than Jussi, poor distribution, makes silly mistakes, poor handling also.

HH, I don't think you can say that. Jus because we sold a player for £4m and bought one for the same value. If the right player came along, we might have still been able to find £4m from somewhere.

Good article Shantonwhites. And good reply from Firstof. About time we had a bit of realism on here.

Evidently not as we are about to post £30m losses again this year, we broke even with transfers for a reason, because we had to.
It's like Everton signing Seamus Coleman, they asked moyes if he thought Coleman was a bargain at £100k, he said no because he cost £60k, they had to get it that low or otherwise they couldn't afford him, if they cannot find £40k then were hardly gonna find £4m

It's been well documented by Deloitte Sports Accountants that nealy 70% of this years summer transfer spending was spent by City, ManU, L'pool & Chelsea.
All spending, except in City's case, ahead of the expected Champions League bounty.
Also HH, I dont expect our losses to be so severe.
We're still in the process of doing our accounts for the last financial period, then they have to be audited by Deloitte, usally early November.
Being a shareholder, I usually get some advanced nod on our financial afairs, especially if they're dire.
Reports & accounts are usually sent out to shareholders between the beginning of December or as late as February if we decide to opt for the 15 month reporting cycle.

At the forum Coyle said huge losses will be made again.. I'm sure my friend who went said it would be £30m.. God knows why but I'm positive that's what he said to me..
