Spiderman, for Juan

Funnily enough I was going to do a quick write up today, I came on to see Juan had started a thread asking my opinion, I was going to post it in his thread, but it became quite a read so decided to start another Spiderman Article (rtm loves them) so I could edit at will afterwards.

Spiderman is an iconic Superhero and this is by no means the first Spiderman game, but it is quite easily the best.

Those used to the Arkham series will feel right at home with this game, as it borrows a lot of whats good and then adds to it.

Instead of the dark underworld of Gotham, you have New York as your playground, and a sizable playground it is too. filled with people and traffic, the world feels alive as you swing from the tops of the tallest skyscrapers, skimming the streets to swing once more onto the air, with the acrobatic skills of a gymnastic gold medalist.

Web swinging is a joy, but also an art, I hadn't realised quite how good I had got, until I let my mate have a go. His timing was off and his swinging erratic, he was happy enough though, especially when he got into his first fight scene.

Taking down Kingpins men, he was having a great time, webbing people up, punching and kicking, leaving a mass of Kingpins men in his wake.

As he continued he would learn a new move, a new trick, a new combination, that had him eager to find the next fight, With Spiderman now jumping off walls, leaping over, under, with an agility that would make Spiderman proud.

This is what makes this game, You really do feel like Spidey as you effortlessly leap around your foes, taking the opportunity to deliver a few heroic blows until your spider sense warns you to dodge an incoming attack, leaping away to kick the teeth in of another bad guy.

I am no expert, but those good at linking combos will love this game.

My battle skills are ok, but I am grateful for the gadgets Spiderman also has at his disposal, Obviously he has his web shooter, but as you progress you will gain a whole load of new toys to play with. Who can't love a web bomb?

And of course there are new suits to unlock, which again will help you in battle, there are some pretty badass looking suits to unlock and I'm sure there is something for everyone.

This is where the story comes in, you don't spend the whole game swinging the streets as Spidey, Peter Parker has a life too. Now working in a lab, he has access to some fancy equipment to Solve puzzles, from circuits to sequencing new exotic materials, and makes for a nice change of pace after a day of fighting bad guys.

As much as I have been playing it all weekend, I have not rushed playing though the story. I have spent most of my time happily swinging the streets, tackling muggings, car jackings, shop robberies and searching out the many backpacks that are hidden around the City, as well as bringing online the police towers, which help you find crime, and continuing some Osbourne research.

Another thing you are encouraged to do is sight see, taking Photos of landmarks like the Empire State building etc. I actually found Dr Strange's abode. The iconic window glowing in the dark, nice touch.

In Summary Spiderman is at his wise cracking best, Spidercop ( it will mean more when you play the game) the graphics are again top notch and attention to detail excellent. voice acting something far too often lacking in 3rd party gaming, is again well done.

If you are a Spiderman Fan, you have to get this game, if you are a simple gamer looking for your next fix, this will not let you down. well worth adding to your collection.

Enjoy

I don't normally post playthroughs of games, but after playing Friday and Saturday I was looking through some playthroughs to see how other people were enjoying it, and this guy caught my eye. He loves the game and really is a natural, putting my gaming skills to shame, he shows how Spiderman should be done.

Obviously if you don't want to know anything about this game don't watch this

Amiga - does the game flesh out some of the villains from the Spiderman universe?

I can't really comment, as I haven't really been pushing through the story. I have encountered Kingpin and Shocker, basically boss battles. No real fleshing out of the characters, I'm not sure what the story is as yet.

I've just spent the last four hours finishing the story mode. I wouldn't say it fleshes the characters out as much as it could but holy sheet, those last four hours were a Whirlwind of awesomeness. An absolute spectacle.

You can get it for £20 when you trade in certain games. I have uncharted collection and tomb raider, think I'll do that.

Played through arkham knight a few months ago, definitely still worth playing. Entire trilogy is really.

Might go and cop Spiderman today. Not seen the latest movie though, is it necessary to have seen that?

Arkham asylum was fantastic, although quite old now but I'm sure it would still look good.
You were confound to the asylum though so not free roaming around a huge city for example but the voice acting and the atmosphere were amazing.

Arkham city was exactly what I hoped it would be. An awesome awesome game and so many batman villains that get good screen time and the side missions are great fun too.

Was it asylum or city that had killer croc? I forget.

Arkham knight although fun was probably the least satisfying of the trilogy in my opinion.
There were no boss fights really, most stuff was done in the tank but you do still get to be batman of course and they have perfected his fighting and moves etc.
I loved the huge amounts of enemies you had to take on sometimes, if on hard mode, you'd somwtimes be surrounded by 30 odd enemies which made it quite a challenge.
Also a some of the side missions in this game were brilliant, especially the Azreal one.

I can't afford Spider-Man at the moment but I'm going to pick it up soon.. as well as fifa much to my despise.

My favourite was probably asylum, but I'm biased as it was the first "next gen" game of that ilk that I'd played and I was blown away really. The voice acting was incredible and for a gaming noob like me there was a lot of stuff to do, even if it was just in the asylum.

City was great, the only problem I had with it was it was a little slow paced - the story took it's time to get going, and having to grapple hook everywhere was annoying. The batmobile would have been great here.

Knight was also good, as you say they perfected the combat system to make it challenging. While they implemented the batmobile, they went a bit far with it, with a lot of tedious side missions and what not.

Overall a thoroughly enjoyable trilogy. Would recommend to anyone.

Been playing Jurassic World loads recently, hooked on it and I've hated these kind of games since Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 and 2 on my PC as a kid
