Leeds Utd v Millwall Matchday Thread

Football is Back glad to see the back of another International break and certainly looking forward to seeing if we can pick up where we left off, a good trial for the Team and Bielsa's tactics against a team that have proved a bit of a bogey for us...…………………….

Team News
Leeds United
Leeds are without a number of first-team players, with Tyler Roberts in line to start up front after injuries to Patrick Bamford and Kemar Roofe.
Fellow forward Pablo Hernandez and full-back Gaetano Berardi are also absent for the unbeaten league leaders.

A more specific injury update from Leeds. Let's just say there's a tough month ahead: Berardi (knee) three weeks out. Roofe (calf) two to three weeks out. Hernandez (hamstring) four to five weeks out. Shackleton (ankle) back in training next week. And Bamford (knee), four months.

Millwall
Millwall midfielder Ryan Leonard could make his first Lions appearance since signing from Sheffield United.
But defender Shaun Hutchinson's knee injury is expected to keep him out for a fourth successive league game.

Match facts
Millwall have won eight of their last nine home matches against Leeds in all competitions (L1).
Leeds have failed to score in any of their last four Championship visits to the Den against Millwall since winning 1-0 in March 2012 via a Ross McCormack goal.
The team scoring first in this league fixture has gone on to win the game in each of the last 11 meetings, since Millwall scored first in August 2010 but went on to lose 3-1 at Elland Road.
Millwall have had just seven shots on target in open play in the Championship this season, four fewer than any other side.
Leeds have registered the best shot conversion rate in the Championship this season (18.2%), scoring 14 goals from 77 shots.
Only Brentford's Neal Maupay (8) has been involved in more Championship goals this season than Kemar Roofe (six - four goals, two assists), and the injured Leeds forward scored and assisted in his last league appearance against Millwall in January.

Not the best stats but despite the injuries I think we have a few players ready to step up to the mark, whether they'll be enough i'm not sure but hopefully the Team will be as keen as the Fans to put one over on the suvverners 1-2 Scoreline with Roberts and Ayling to Score

Cracking result and we're still top of the league, only been able to keep tabs now and again today due to other commitments - always try to check out what you lads and lasses are saying.

Shaun - you a bit happier now?

Give the lad time. Roof is now into his 3rd season & is only just starting to perform.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Disagree with that, Roofe had a great start to last season too, up to this point of the season.

Looks like Lassoga was a sub and scored all 3 in ten minutes. Scored two in his last game too.

No doubting his quality, he just wasn't fit enough for us.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Knee injury that required painkilling injections to be able to play.

He was rubbish. No he did not, he only scored 3 goals in the league till he scored a hatrick against QPR in December

The Bundesliga and the Championship are slightly different leagues. One is highly technical and competitive while the Bundesliga is for pretty boys who cry when their socks get wet.

Fine, I was confused when I spoke to him after the Ipswich game and we discussed why he was having a great start to the season. 🤷‍♂️

Match Stats per BBC:

Millwall - Leeds

Possession 37% - 63%
Shots 16 - 11
Shots on Target 2 - 4
Corners 6 - 4
Fouls 14 - 7

Annoyingly, we watched a stream with two idiot commentators who repeatedly told us Millwoe was dominating the game.

Jonny, case of not how much you have the ball but what you do with it. They occasionally looked dangerous from set pieces. Until the Harrison goal they looked comfortable at the back.

Ayling, Roberts and Alioski all had decent chances that on another day might have gone in.

The thing is we kept at it. Last season we would have conceded a second I think.

Agreed, I just thought others might be interested to see the stats.

I thought we had more possession but not as much as BBC measured.
