Was the consensus of the whole ‘Question Time’ panel (just got round to seeing it last night) and it got a massive round of applause every time that somebody said we cannot allow him to bully us, we need to show him strength.
Freezing assets and monies based in London was one of the suggested solutions.
All this is fantastic in theory.
But (and I’ll concede I’m no expert) I don’t think there’s much we can do to a man who IMO cannot be scared or intimidated.
I honestly believe Putin is one of the most (if not the most) dangerous world leaders in my lifetime. I get you need to stand up to bullies, but I don’t believe there’s anything we can do on our own to scare Putin.
I certainly wouldn’t mess with Russia from a military point of view. Finances? If we get dirty I’m prepared to bet they could get dirtier.
The last time we were “in a position" to stand up to Russia, there were still Tsars and Adolf was just a budding artist.

I was a little surprised to see on the news this morning that Putin actually conceded that russia's anti doping programme in their athletics/olympic teams had failed...
by which he means he knew about it...but was found out, he could've chosen to say nothing I guess

When will British govt apologize for the illegal wars? And their moral support in bombing Yemen?

Why should the British government apologise for anything?
Prior to the Iraq war, after pictures of gassed Kurds and Iraqis, there was a call for outside assistance to help the minority tribes.
When we do get involved, then it's an illegal war and we're interfering in other countries policies. People don't know what they want. Western governments are damned if they do damned if they don't.
With Yemen we had to monitor and gather intelligence on Saudi air attacks from offshore. The world said something had to be done to stop it, Imagine what would have happened if we'd started shooting Saudi planes down - we'd have been accused of acting as world police again.

The Humanities at our universities have created a bunch of white flag wavers in today's generation.
Can you imagne the op and people like him around during the 1940s?
No bottle or pride to stand up for their country.
Terrible.
