Liverpool Naive or Gentlemen

Heard a few liverpool fans say lastnight that they should have just fouled hazard. Now keita and fabinho done well to last the 90 minutes imo, and we should of had a couple bookings.

But Thanks to Liverpool hazard has scored 2 of his best goals in a chelsea shirt, after being allowed (like against arsenal) to actually spin and run at teams.

Makes me wonder how many of those goals he would score if there were not so many cynical fouls on hazard, consistently one of the most fouled players in the PL.

Hazard does not play like salah, sane, mane, sterling and others on the shoulder of the full back or cb but instead has to drop deep, like lastnight, to get a move initiated. It's a shame he gets fouled so often otherwise we'd see more goals like lastnight.

So although Liverpool could have fouled him, it was a beautiful goal.

“Moreno can do neither, Robertson like I said previously has a good cross on him and will grab assists and impact a games scoreline.”

Moreno isn’t bad attacking wise but is shiite when it comes to the defensive side of his game. Robertson is better than him at both though.

I disagree on the Moreno part but hey.. this is a debate forum.

Got three minutes in and he already skipped past VVD a couple times easily, and scored when maybe VVD should have closed him down.

Some players are just that good, doesn't matter who the defender is. Just cannot get the ball of them.

Can,

I'm not suggesting he a poor player at all... IMO he's an overrated player, That's all.

Alonso is overrated too, IMO. He scores important goals and doesn't contribute much to the overall play at all.

He beat Moreno twice who wasnt booked the entire game, the guys useless the least he could have done is took one for the team . I dont remember Hazard even touching the ball for 30 mins prior to that. But it was obvious he was gna get joy from Moreno and Lovrens side, Moreno made Moses look like Hazard.

You have to be able to get close enough for long enough to do that.

Teams sit off Liverpool... therefore allowing him to get a free ride to attack the majority of the time. He has a good cross on him, That's it.

Like I said before stick him in a defence were he's actually having to defend 70% of the time and well.. you concede quite a few and get relegated.

That is one of the stranger comments I've read on here.

This season we're averaging 58% possession so by definition we're defending (in some part of the pitch) for 42% of the time.

The opposition won't always be attacking down our left either. For the sake of argument lets suggest that they spend a third of the time attacking down our left, a third right and a third through the middle. Meaning Robertson spends (very roughly) 14% of the game defending for us.

If he spent 70% of this time defending (which is pretty rare in the EPL btw) then he'd be spending roughly 23% of his time defending.

So at 14% defending he looks impressive but it's just a free ride. At 23% he'd be a disaster and relegated. Ok.

OP,

We're not really a naive team, in fact when teams break through our press we can be really rather cynical in terms of fouls to stop the break. Fouls are often rotated as well so bookings are kept to a minimum.

Last night it's tempting to be wise with hindsight but honestly I don't think (a) we could get close to Hazard before he got to the box and (b) never expected him to do what he did!

Sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and say that was brilliant. Hazard's goal is just one of those times.
