DPL vs Fleetwood T

Another hot tip for relegation who have defied the odds and who will be no pushover, but we are at the stage of the season when we would expect to beat such a side if we are to sustain the promotion challenge.

We must beat such teams at home and we will have to hope that we can play near to the best of our ability which ought to be enough.

Wilks is not at the point where he should be left out despite his performance at Accrington. If he just produces his Plymouth form and makes good decisions with the ball he is a big threat in this League.

I am not convinced that either Taylor, Anderson (J) or Crawford are anything special even though they are clearly manager's favourites and he really ought to be giving others a chance from the bench.

3-0 to us and Whiteman with the first and 8200.

I'll keep my eye on Crawford Saturday if he starts Lanza 👍

Lanza and Zigger,
I did not go into detail about everyone, but my biggest disappointment was Lund. Prior to his injury last year I thought he showed good potential, but was poor on Tuesday. Horton showed some class and would be pushing more for the first team if he did not have Amos in front of him.
My concern with Tom Anderson would be pace as he was outrun several times - maybe why he fouled sometimes?
Beestin is another frustration after what he showed last season. He does not seem fit, but that should not have mattered when he blazed over the bar.
You are right about GKs punching, not catching. I usually watch the late Premier League game after the Rovers game and am surprise at that in the Premier League. As most refs do not allow any challenge on GKs, one would think they would take more risks to catch. I think Lawlor punches more than Marosi, but I'm still intrigued with whom McCan will pick on Saturday.

If he picks lawlor you can guarantee Rochdale will score with a shot.

Lund maybe better at centre back?
He was so bad on Tuesday at RB.
Marosi for me looking over a full season not 1 game

In Lawlor vs Marosi, Lawlor started well when he came at first and was full of confidence. Marosi did not stand out in the same way, but was usually fairly reliable.

Lawlor's weakness on long shots and his tendency to stay on his line was exploited after a while and sadly it does not seem that he has improved. If anything he seems to have become less effective, although not playing regularly must drain confidence.

On the other hand, Marosi has improved as time has gone on and perhaps his only weakness is his tendency to come out and take on attackers (and occasionally get into trouble). However, I would see this as a sign of confidence in a goalkeeper.

Harry Gregg used to come out - often dangerously we thought at the time, but this style became the modern way.

Marosi is very talented in my opinion and we need to stick with him; if he were back to second choice, other clubs would be after him.

Don .
I think he is having to come out more now under the different tactics.
I cant remember him charging out in the past.

Marosi is the better all round keeper.
Lanza is correct with his opinion that our more attacking style (than last season) does mean that it is more likely that the keeper will be called upon to dash forward to try to intercept through balls.

Maybe it was I who started this discussion of goalkeepers, but it has been informative. It was mainly because I wondered how McCann would react to Marko's recent errors.
Personally, I've always been a Marko fan over Lawlor. Both have made great saves for us, and Lawlor was incredibly good at reaction saves. My main concern with him was a weakness to distance shots, and being stuck on the line too often. I'm concerned now that he may have lost some confidence in himself.
Both punch more than what I would have liked, but that is the modern game as I've said in the earlier message.
I think we are lucky to have them and hope Marko starts on Saturday.

On a totally different subject - Alfie May. Have you all listened to his last two interviews? One just has to love this guy who says he is living his dream, and just wants to get better. As he says, two years ago he was a part-time professional in a much lower level of football (was it the eighth level?). If I remember correctly, he was also working part-time for his brothers construction company. I want this guy to succeed; should he cut back on some over enthusiasm and let his natural talent succeed as in the first goal against Grimsby?

May is noticeably improved this season.
He looks more tactically aware and physically fitter and stronger.
Obviously he is more experienced as a professional now but seems to be more able to express himself under McCann.

With his confidence sky high after the Grimsby game I reckon he could start in place of Wilks for the Rochdale game.
We would still be able to bring Wilks on as an impact sub if necessary.
