Almost a full round of fixtures were played last night in the Scottish Championship, with the teams catching up with the additional fixture that United had already played.
Some interesting results came through. Ross County surprisingly drew with bottom club Falkirk. I can't say I saw that result coming. The Bairns took the lead through an own goal before a second half equaliser saw the clubs share the points.
That result allowed Ayr United to leap to the top of the Championship after a comfortable victory over Alloa. It's been a remarkable season so far for the newly promoted club and it shows the value of a good striker - Shankland now has 50 goals in 50 starts for the club.
A good striker wasn't enough to help QOTS last night though, with the main man Dobbie's equaliser unable to stop Queens slipping to a 2-1 home defeat against Morton.
In the other game played, ICT maintained their undefeated start to the league campaign, but racked up their EIGHTH draw in eleven games against Dunfermline, and their sixth draw in a row. Their inability to turn draws into wins is severely damaging their prospects this season.
It leaves the table as follows after 11 games:
Ayr United 25
Ross County 24
Dundee United 18
ICT 17
QOTS 16
Morton 16
Dunfermline 12
Partick 9
Alloa 8
Falkirk 4
This weekends fixtures are:
Alloa v Dunfermline
ICT v Ross County
Falkirk v Ayr
Morton v Partick
Dundee United v QOTS

Will Ayr be allowed to play at Somerset Park if they get promoted?

I’m amazed that Utd have been so poor yet are still up there

I don’t really follow lower league football, but there is an ayr of inevitability about the title race now, as I wouldn’t county on the 2nd place team being consistent enough. If the 3rd place team remain united then they could put a good run together, but the 4th place team could well end up being a thistle in their side. QOTS - No One Knows.
Etc.

Love it

The last few years have taught me to be immediately suspicious of any hint of optimism.

Are they worth a bet for winning the league?
