AVB at Spurs

Spurs fans, how would you rate AVB's time at Spurs?

Schrodinger and JFK (The poster, not the dead president) suggest he done a good job at Spurs. Actually it seems a lot of Celtic fans think he did well now they are linking him to the Celtic job.

Schrodinger thinks that he lead Spurs to their highest ever PL finish so i'll move on to why JFK thinks he was a success.

1. He has the highest win percentage of any spurs manager up to his appointment.
2. He signed Eriksen.

Now reasons why I think he was schit.

1. Took Spurs from 4th to 5th in his first season. (With Bale on fire)
2. Signed Soldudo
3. Wasted plenty more money.
4. Got humped 6-0 then 5-0 in short succession.
5. Got sacked in 7th before Xmas within 18 months.

So Spurs fans, in hindsight how would you rate AVB at Spurs?

Success or Failure?

odd league up here, seen player who can't cut it here do well in england, same with managers.

not a league for football purists, but i dont envy the premiership tbh i find most "super sundays" to be dull as fvck.

looking at the premiership table, there are a bunch of teams in there i would have thought were championship sides, wolves, watford, palace, brighton, fulham, cardiff, huddersfield, and burnley.

i like poch but if tottenham finish behind a pretty snide chelsea team is that a good season? obviously acceptable if you finish in the top 4.

Well, you have to consider what we're up against.

CL football is, unfortunately, at the moment, literally more important than anything for us. Certainly more important than winning the Carabao/FA Cup. Some Spurs fans may disagree with that, ans that's only my opinion of course, but I think it's well justified.

Last season we scraped into third and Chelsea finished 5th, having spent £70 Mill on Morata, £40 Mill on Bakayoko, £20 Mill on Zappacosta, £35 Mill on Drinkwater. Look how much they have wasted there, it's actually laughable.

So they finish 5th. Surely, they're in trouble?

Nope. They manage to snare the Manager who finished 2nd in Serie A along with one of his best players in Jorginho for £50 Mill. In January they managed to snare Higuain, even though they are nowhere near the league title and in the Europa League. They keep Hazard, Kante, Azpilicueta. How?

If we finished 5th, do you think we have a hope in hell of doing anything like that? Any time anyone mentions the thought of us finishing outside of the CL places, it's bye bye Eriksen, Kane, Alli, Poch.

Why?

See, it's just not a level playing field.

considering you never signed anyone in summer i think its impressive that spurs are still there or there abouts.

that said, having a squad that know each other like they do is obviously helping.

i'm not sure a season in fifth would cause any of them to leave tbh, seem quite loyal to the club no?

obviously i don't know i'm just assuming, you will know best.

i thought rodgers was a celtic fan then he left for leicester cause he is a f...ing snake.

I wasn’t against his appointment tbh but his football was so boring especially after having that redknapp team before him

Well I wouldn't like to find out mate. As I said, other teams are playing in a completely different ball park to us.

Imagine this: We have a terrible start to next season and Poch is sacked. Ole has Man United playing brilliant football and close to the top.

Can you imagine seeing the media linking Ole with us? Our ex players like Ledley King and Redknapp going on Sky Sports saying how good a fit he would be?

As I said, completely different ball game. Which is why our progress as a club should be judged accordingly.

He was awful a total disaster.

I was against his appointment and against him the entire time he was with us.

We were probably the worst football side Spurs have been in the last 10 years when he was with us. I preferred Tim Sherwood and I never liked him at all.
