When fit I think he’s the best option alongside Virjil. Matip was superb this season and it’s going to be tough choice for Klopp next season. I really can’t see Lovren getting many games.
Who would you play alongside VVD next season?
Also here are his stats for today’s game which I didn’t see but those stats and his passing ability are the reason I rate him so highly.
Joe Gomez’s first half vs. Switzerland by numbers:
highest pass accuracy (100%)
most long balls completed (6)
most tackles won (3/3)
most interceptions (2)
Gomez and next season

I agree with the various comments with regard to Joe and Joel. Each player is very good indeed. But it begs a question:
Whither Lovren?

TAA Gomez Virgil Robbo
This was an elite defensive unit in the beginning of last season in such a short space of time. Given more time together, there's potential to be one of the best the league has seen.
In a perfect world Matip would 4th choice for me.

Really? I think he’s been great this season. I’d have him second/third choice CB. I liked the look of Gomez at the start of the season. It just depends on how well he comes back from the injury.

Backup, 4th choice
We can't go into a new season with just 3 to choose from

Start the season with Matip, rotate Gomez in and out.
Won the the CL with Matip at the back so Gomez needs to earn his way back into the side.

Agree with that.

If Gomez stays fit, he'll be the best English CB among the ones that are currently around.
From an England standpoint, he seems to get injured quite often and this can hinder his development. You just have to look at other highly rated youngsters who haven't progressed due to constant injury (Smalling, Jones, Wilshere). Or he could be like Ledley King, who was a very good defender despite his constant injuries.

Gomez injuries have been impact injuries.
He's had 3, cruciate Achilles and broken leg.
Some might say unfortunate
