I just thought there ought to be a few words on here in honour of David Luiz. Another of Chelsea's warriors gone.
Great character, loves life and football. Two things I'll always remember - that World Cup semi-final where he was Brazil captain and running around headless-chicken style as the Germans slaughtered them - one side of his character.
The other side - that towering performance when only half-fit in the CL Final 2012; and especially the moment that made my blood freeze - the long run up to his penalty kick! But he absolutely smashed it into the goal - my heart jump-started and he became legend.
What courage and conviction to do that at such a critical moment!! Never to be forgotten, and stands alongside Drogba's header in the same game, Torres' goal in the semi, Bridges' goal in the Arsenal semi, and Frank's pen v. Liverpool as the most emotional moments for me in the modern era.
All else is forgiven David. Thank you.
David Luiz

His constant pining for Atleti and posing in their shirt didn't sit well with me, in my humble opinion he was one of the most divisive figures we've had at the club in recent time and I wanted to see the back of him six months before he went!
------------
Yes Brum, I understand this point of view. Even though the media played it to the full, with the usual glee over Chelsea stories that time.
What I'm talking about is the manner of his departure in relation to whats happen with David Luiz now. Both made great contributions to the club's success. Both did not deserve to leave in this manner, particularly not David, who yes I know was guilty of errors, but in the main was a talisman to the club and was a loyal servant.
On the pitch I remember his input when things went badly, his fighting spirit many times helped to convert defeat into a win.
But hey thats just my opinion... that the way he was told to pack his bags could have been done more sensitively as merits his contributions , not to mention a former mate of Lamps.

The thing is Tway, we don't know if he was told to pack his bags. If he was told he'd be a part of the rotation and didn't take kindly to it, then he didn't have the best interests of the club at heart anyway.
Outside of Cobham, we will probably never be told the real truth but he has had form for leaving us for what he thought was greener grass before!

Tway...couldn't agree more about Costa....wound me up long before he went...which was a pity because he was unplayable on his good days
Re Luiz...leaves a sour taste the way it has happened, but as Brum said we don't know the full truth, and he has previous in this dept
Anyways - onwards & upwards lads....bring on the youngsters, come on Frankie make us proud again

The main thing I liked about him bloo was the portrayal of this dyed in the wool, Chelsea through and through image.
Now that's been revealed as a sham with him leaving at the drop of a hat not once but twice it shows him for what he is in my eyes.
As for his prowess as a defender he's never been in the same league as JT, Marcel Desailly, Frank the Beef or Carvhalo, so for me his biggest positive legacy will always be that night in Munchen on the 19th May 2012.

I still think his midfield performance in the CL agst PSG both away (even though he made a bad error) but especially in the 2nd leg at home were one of the most amazing performances i have seen from a player.
But agree with everything else said. I would rank him alongside Le Boeuf....good, but seriously flawed too
