Wish him the best. Deserves to have a nice swan song at arsenal where he would be first choice

Crusty the clown has gone to play with his son at Arsenal

He always put in 100% for you guys but he does have a liability in him but on the flipside, he leads the team well and he looks like a well liked character

One of the great characters we've had, very good technically, capable of brilliance as shown throughout his time here.

Shame it's ended the way it has and he's moved to a rival club...

Shows character that he recovered from THAT world cup performance. Could not believe my eyes. A clown in full clown warez would have done a better job

I've never been a massive fan of his myself bloo. What I could never understand about him with his exceptional ability was how he could go from the sublime to the ridiculous so easily.

My fondest memories of him will be the CL final where he was one of eleven heroes and that blockbuster at Craven Cottage.

The trouble is those memories are tempered by less savoury incidents and my overarching memory of him is when he smashed that young Brentford player into next week during an FA Cup tie at Griffin Park.

I won't wish him a successful end to his career because that will mean Le Ar$e have been successful but I do wish him a happy life - and no I didn't give his restaurant a bad review on Tripadvisor!

I don't mean to overshadow your spot-on summary in an earlier post Brummie, and I absolutely get your comment here. However he did seem to curb that ugly side in recent times - not so much reckless tackling and the highly risky shoving and elbowing.

Great character, loves life and football. Two things I'll always remember - that World Cup semi-final where he was Brazil captain and running around headless-chicken style as the Germans slaughtered them - one side of his character.
----------------------------------------------------------
I'm glad someone brought that up. For all the acclaim he gets as a leader especially in the later stages of his career, I just can't get that match out of my head to agree with this assertion. There's a difference between being a positive dressing room presence and being a leader, he was Brazil's captain in their WC, one match from the final and totally crumbled under the pressure - a real leader simply wouldn't have done that.

But that aside, and that's just my opinion, I wish him all the best at Arsenal. Been a fantastic servant to the club, was the last real warrior (consistently in the team) from that great Chelsea side through the noughties into the early 10's. Personally I think it's an iffy deal by Arsenal but it's a great deal for him.

The main thing I liked about him bloo was the portrayal of this dyed in the wool, Chelsea through and through image.

Now that's been revealed as a sham with him leaving at the drop of a hat not once but twice it shows him for what he is in my eyes.

As for his prowess as a defender he's never been in the same league as JT, Marcel Desailly, Frank the Beef or Carvhalo, so for me his biggest positive legacy will always be that night in Munchen on the 19th May 2012.

Yeah Brum, that makes you laugh, eh! But then again making people laugh seemed to be his main aim in life.

Good luck to him

No-one mentioned what a great asset he would have be for our young guns to share his experience and positive energy.
But heyho Lamps doesn't like him so he's off. David always said he loves being in London, so I understand the Arsenal choice.
Warning to all players : Stay in The Lamps good books or else!
Cheers and thank you David for the 7 trophies we won with you. You were always a top man. The dressing room will miss you dearly, how much remains to be seen.

Frank has spoken.." it was my decision..."

For all those criticizing Luiz not training with the team, Lampard has aid it was his decision to make Luiz trained alone after they came to a conclusion he was leaving.

Disruptive Luiz, dispensable. Don't let the door hit you on the way out!

Commend Frank for taking this action and to no-less a Roman favourite (bent-over backwards to give Luiz the unprecedented 2-year contract he desired, breaking the policy).
Disposing of probably the biggest character in Luiz...illustrates the power Frank already has, direct line coming into good use.

Massive vote of confidence and statement of intent for the future prospects.
Time for our best ball-playing defender in AC to deliver (which I know he can), back to being the undisputed (constant) first-choice starter. Scoring your first goals wouldn't go amiss either!

All-in on young players development. I'm all for this direction.

Perhaps the "real story" may come out, or probably not.
I think a few here share my distate the way some of our influential players appear to depart in a cloud of almost hostile uncertainty. I thought Costa was handled badly, in fact despicably, after his contributions and now David Luiz, surely we can manage our divorces better than this.

I don't mind him leaving. The difference between him, Christensen, Zouma and even Tomori is negligible. They each have their pros and cons. I mind him being sold to Arsenal - that is just stupid. Yes, we earned an extra £8M, but how much do we lose if Arsenal pip us to the last Champions League spot this season? It is just not worth it. I really thought having Cech as director of football would help to eliminate things like that (although Cech did it himself - so perhaps he's not in a position to say no).

I believe we've disagreed over Costa in the past Tway but personally I thought his behaviour, for up to a year, was well short of what I'd expect of a Chelsea player.

His constant pining for Atleti and posing in their shirt didn't sit well with me, in my humble opinion he was one of the most divisive figures we've had at the club in recent time and I wanted to see the back of him six months before he went!

Yes Brum, I understand this point of view. Even though the media played it to the full, with the usual glee over Chelsea stories that time.
What I'm talking about is the manner of his departure in relation to whats happen with David Luiz now. Both made great contributions to the club's success. Both did not deserve to leave in this manner, particularly not David, who yes I know was guilty of errors, but in the main was a talisman to the club and was a loyal servant.
On the pitch I remember his input when things went badly, his fighting spirit many times helped to convert defeat into a win.
But hey thats just my opinion... that the way he was told to pack his bags could have been done more sensitively as merits his contributions , not to mention a former mate of Lamps.

The thing is Tway, we don't know if he was told to pack his bags. If he was told he'd be a part of the rotation and didn't take kindly to it, then he didn't have the best interests of the club at heart anyway.

Outside of Cobham, we will probably never be told the real truth but he has had form for leaving us for what he thought was greener grass before!
