Cal Hudson-Odoi new contract OFFICIAL!

https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2019/09/19/callum-hudson-odoi-agrees-new-chelsea-contract

His new deal commits him to the club he has trained at since the age of eight until at least 2024.

‘It’s an amazing feeling,’ Hudson-Odoi said after signing his contract. ‘It’s been a long wait but it’s done now and I’m really happy about that. I’ve been a Chelsea player since I was eight and this is the right club for me to be at.

‘I’ve been thinking for a while what it would be like to be playing for Chelsea for the next five years and how everything might go, especially now FRANK is here as the manager. It’s a great feeling for all of us because we know he gives everybody a chance if you’re playing well and working hard.

‘I want to lift as many trophies as possible, win as many games as possible and contribute to as many goals as I can as well. As a team, we just want to work hard to achieve the best results we can. I’m delighted everything has been agreed and now I’m just looking forward to properly getting back.’

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia added: ‘Callum showed last season just what a thrilling talent he is. We are delighted he has committed to Chelsea and we are all excited about the prospect of seeing him continue to blossom in the years ahead.

‘The club has already been rewarded this season by some brilliant performances from our young Academy graduates, and Callum’s new contract guarantees Frank has another outstanding prospect at his disposal.’

While injury cut short a season full of promise, the youngster clearly caught the eye and his potential was highlighted by Frank Lampard as early as his first media conference as our new head coach.

‘I have seen Callum come through and he’s a fantastic talent,’ said Lampard. ‘He is going to be central for us on the pitch and that is the opportunity in front of him now.

‘There are things as a young player that he will want to improve but he can be central to this team and for England. I want to work with him, I want to drive him forward and I want to improve him as a player.

‘Callum can show, right here at Chelsea, the club he came through the Academy at, that he is going to be a world-class player because I truly believe that.’

As well as the prospect of working alongside players from your Academy days, you also have the opportunity to work with two former coaches in Joe Edwards and Jody Morris. How much are you looking forward to linking up with them once again?

‘It’s amazing that two coaches I worked with for years in the Academy are now part of Frank’s coaching staff and we’re working together again. It’s a great feeling because I’ve worked with them already and they know how I am.

Jody is a coach who’s always been on my case no matter what – if he sees me jogging, he’ll be shouting at me to run faster – but that’s a good thing to know he’s watching me that closely. He wants me to work hard for the team because when you all work together, you get results. I appreciate that because they’re helping me do what I’m doing now.’

Could have been a disaster with Sarri remaining in charge (https://video.twimg.com/tweet_video/EE1MLPgW4AE2JpY.mp4 ) but thankfully that didn't happen and THIS is the present, reality, future, result!

Not gunna engage in this. You have enormous faith in all of our young players and no-one's gunna change that, and obviously I hope you're right, so I'm not gunna explain my reasons. Just rest assured, I'm not the only one who believes Sarri wasn't the problem (CHO related) and he has to start justifying his hype now being on six figures a week at 18 y/o.

FYI, I dont doubt his technical ability, you and others who put the time in to watch our youth teams will know far more about that than me. My cynical position towards him is unrelated to that.

Not all young players to be honest, just a select few have THAT special x factor.
Qualities which sets them apart from the rest.

No one has dismissed Cal not worthy of the hype. He may well be in the future, The fact remain that he’s yet to prove the hype about him.

You said that Sarri miss handled Cal, yet he made 24 appearances of which 10 were in the pl campaign. That’s not bad for an 18 year old who’s just broken into the scene. Granted, he performed well in the EL, though the same can’t be said in the league appearances. So, CHO using the lack of games as an excuse to flirt with Bayern doesn’t wash with me.
He has finally signed now, but the way he’s gone about his contract has left a bitter taste.

Let’s hope he justifies the hype and will all be forgotten in future.

I don't blame him for that myself. He absolutely utilized the circumstances to leverage himself a nice six figure contract but that's just a professional taking care of himself - the blame for that rests on no-one but the board, not Sarri, for not tying him down to a better contract for a longer period. Fair play to him.

But having done that, and this was merely the point I was originally making, it's time to knuckle down and prove you deserved that contract in the first place. Right now he's hype, largely self imposed by this money play, time to justify that hype.

I'm glad Cal now has the management that will empower and allow him to fully display his formidable skillset.
Feels good to have a manager that genuinely believes in young talent and doesn't use wishy-washy flimsy excuses not to play them.

Frank: "Hudson-Odoi has all the attributes to play and make similar statements on the world scene as we are seeing with Sancho"

Never a truer word spoken, echoed my thoughts.
All that matters. Refreshing

I don't think CHO was the problem with his contract renewal, more the people "looking after" him.

Cho and Tammy are going to be a great double act. 👍 Cho crosses, Tammy scores.

Exactly.

Cho, Loftus-Cheek and Mount playing in an attacking trio behind Tammy. Opposition defenders won't know what day it is. Can't wait
