Future of the League Cup.

With the big 6, and Wolves, starting their League Cup campaigns this week, questions are again being raised about the need for this secondary cup competition.
Over in France, they have announced that the Coupe de la Ligue will not take place after this season. They cite the hectic schedule (although having no TV deal for it probably didn't help). With an expectation for European competitions to be extended, can our version survive.

There are many pros to this competition, but as many cons.

I like the competition for a few reasons;
Gives lower league clubs a chance to play the "big boys"
Allows teams to play squad players and youngsters
Allows fans who don't always get the chance to attend to go to games for an affordable price (Arsenal charge a tenner for lower tier seats)
It offers a Europa Place (does this change to the 3rd European competition?)

but many agree with the French and argue there are just too many games.

Rather than get rid of it, could they make it more unique? Maybe bring in a rule that 7 of the starting line up have to be English (BREXIT!!!)? Or just combine it with the EFL Trophy and say top flight teams can only play academy players?

Do you see a future for the League Cup, or is it inevitable that we will drop it in the near future?

The question is, I guess, if the League Cup wasn't there would your Evertons and Wolves take the FA Cup more seriously?

Don't they now then...?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No PL team is that bad that will lose to Millwall if they were taking it seriously.

Well we took it seriously enough last season to get through to the semi final

I like it. The always are good, and it’s a nice little earner for the lower leagues. Would prefer the final at a neutral ground though, add a bit more gloss to the fa cup.

City's CB's last night were 17 and 18 years old, I imagine they enjoyed themselves as we kept a clean sheet.

Think it is the League cup winners or 7th for England.

There is a fear of player injury by the larger clubs and therefor they tend to play a lot of reserve players, and this tends to diminish the importance of this trophy.

If sponsorship goes away, so will this competition in its current formation.
