Yesterday I got embroiled in a discussion of the best trophy, so I thought I would do an article about it.
First of all the word pinnacle is one I never use in real life,
eg I bought some Nescafe today, the pinnacle of instant coffee. I always use the word best.
CL/European Cup vs the title, which is the best.
Now I'm sure Liverpool fans think if I say the title, which I do ,it's because they have won more and us more titles, it's not.
My first visit to Wembley was in 1963 when we won the cup vs Leicester. The next was in 1968 when we became the first English club to win the European Cup, one of the best evenings of my life.
I watched in 1999 with the only member of my family who is a football fan, and we literally jumped around the room.
Against Chelsea I watched with two City fans, it was more relief than joy at the end.
In other words, it is a wonderful cup, I am jealous of Liverpools record in it, I wish we had won another four!
It's glamorous, money making memorable.
So why do I want to win the league at the start of every season?
It's the hardest to win, we play every team twice, have to go to Anfield, the Etihad, the Bridge. It's a test of the squad, the manager, you have to win in all weathers. At the endof the season the best team has won.
You then have the right to go to away grounds and bellow 'Champions' for ninety minutes, which I have done.
The cup for all it's glory, is a cup, some element of luck can, and sometimes does, come into it, together with the draw element.
Two scenarios, that haven't happened, but could have.
United win the title, Pool the CL. Despite the unbearables I would know we were the better team.
Second, we win the CL (not this year of course) and Pool win the title. Of course I would, brag and boast, but inside I would know we were not the best team in Europe, or England, or even the North West of England, Pool were.
It is all opinion, not fact as some claim, but in my honest opinion, at the start of every season, the title is the number one to win.
As for Messi, other leagues, I don't care, my team plays in the PL, and that's what I want us to win.
The best trophy to win

If everybody says it, then it is.
If 75% say it is then it is for 75%
etc.
However Robbing, I will concede that if the vast majority said it was, then it is.
But do they? I don't know, maybe so, it would depend how you phrased the question.
But if your certainty is correct, then what follows is correct.

Exactly, you could phrase it differently than what was actually discussed, for example "the best trophy to win" and you may get different responses.

Id be surprised if it wasnt but it also doesnt matter a huge amount to me. Both are great arent they.
If you google "Pinnacle of club football" there is not much chat about the Premier League though.

That's your preference. It's not the pinnacle. You keep confusing the two.

You keep saying the pinnacle as if it were a thing, it isn't. It doesn't exist.
You keep being confused.
Robbing at least understands, whilst still thinking people would say it is.
You don't understand.

And you could ask A Birmingham supporter
"what's the pinnacle of club football" and may get the answer "stuffing Villa".

You're right Robbing, I enjoy winning the league cup, or indeed any trophy.
My favourites were always the ones I could get to.
I would enjoy a last Wembley experience, I haven't even been to the new one.

I havent.
I have played a competition on Wembleys 3G pitches though. Lost the final on penalties in my last ever tourny.
Still hurts.

They're a sardonic lot in the midlands Robbing, but you could well be right.
Used to have a great time there back in the day, especially the Hawthorns for some reason.

Yes but I'm not asking what is the pinnacle of club football in relation to your club and preference, I'm asking what is the pinnacle of club football.
If you add words to the question, you may get a different answer, of course.
The pinnacle of club football is a thing, that thing is the CL.
Look it up if you don't believe everybody.
