...because it’s going to get worse before it gets better, whoever the manager is tomorrow or next week.
And when it does get better, it won’t get that much better.
The club needs fundamental structural change.
And until that happens, at and then from the very top level of the club, England’s finest, most prestigious, most loved, decorated and famous football club will continue to underperform in this frightening fashion.
Buckle up

I remember us missing some really good chances and them picking us off. I think we'd have gone through without injuries.

Glazers and Woodward need to know that sacking the manager will not provide appeasement this time.
Sort the club out or sell up and fack off.

Think we missed some in the first leg but in the second it was pretty much one way traffic. I do think we'd have gone through without the injuries though. We just ran out of steam that season towards the end but made up for it the next season!

All our injuries hit late that season. I think even Saha made it to the other side of Christmas.
If memory serves, the weekend before Milan, we won 4-2 at Goodison after being 2-0 down. Milan starting at 100mph and it was tough after that with a depleted squad.

Chris Eagles scored in that 4-2. Didn't Phil Neville score an own goal too?

That’s right.

I’m sure we missed some really good chances in the San Siro.
Saha still had injuries that season. We had Ole and Smith playing up top quite a lot.
One of the reasons I never bought the claim that we had to sell RVN to start playing that type of football. It was more than just the introduction of Saha that led to that season.

Are you thinking of when we won there 3-2 in 2010. Just read the match report for 2007 and it seems our only chance was Fletcher from an angle. Think he hit the side netting if I remember.

You might be right about the chances; I’ve probably blanked all but Milan’s early blitz.
Carrick and a revitalised Scholes were key to 06-07. I think we finished the previous campaign with Giggs and O’Shea in midfield.

Vaguely remembered Rooney missing a couple of chances as well. Oh well, it wasn’t to be.
Yeah Carrick was huge. Though we actually had a good run of form with Giggs and O’Shea in cm. We got 83 points that season, better than anything we’ve managed since Fergie retired.
Ronaldo exploding was obviously the key difference. Returning from the world cup as enemy number one he either sunk or swam.
It really shows how mentally strong he is as a player to respond like that. He was villified just as badly as Beckham was in 98 that summer.
