Women Commentators and Pundits

Taking over form Flash's weird article

We have a number of women commentators in various positions from pundits to commentators etc, whenever one is on you only have to browse social media to find a multitude of faceless morons having a pop, its a minority for sure, and probably far less than what a robbie savage, jermaine Jenas and Adrian Durham get on a daily basis.

Personally i think football is a universal game and have zero problem with punditry or commentary from women. In fact i welcome it. punditry is all about opinions sprinkled with knowledge, i dont see that lacking in any of the women pundits ,i do feel like they play it safe too much ,and alot of their analysis can come off as a bit forced The Beauty of punditry is it creates debate and discussion. We need more than that i feel. We rely on Gnev having a go at whoever is in charge of United ,Caragher saying the same things about Liverpool trying desperately to remain impartial.
Then Roy Keen......
so we do need some variety.

What i am not a fan on is women's football itself, currently ( although improving ) the standard is comically low and IMO isn't fit for TV coverage as a entertainment, but that's for the TV companies to deal with

As Gnev said its harder than you think and hed invite any coach or manager to try it, Mourinho has out of curiosity and he clearly has a new respect for it now. Also said pundits should try coaching to appreciate it more too. Same as when gnev n carra did the lino training found out its not so facking easy.

Female pundits ive heard havent been great at getting their points across articulately and use a lot of cliches but theyve not been any worse than a lot of the male pundits either. It is always strange hearing them though, im not used to it yet.

Good comments OP, until the last paragraph. You've obviously fallen into the trap of comparing men's football with women's football. They are separate entities and this incarnation of women's football is in its infancy (relatively speaking).

Thanks. Personally, I prefer men's football because it's what I'm used to. I'm of the generation (women's) that wasn't encouraged to play football as it was considered a 'man's' game but I'm happy that girls and women can now play without many impediments and would always support their right to do so.

It's good that girls can now aspire to be professional footballers (or commentators) and that there are role models in those professions for them to look up to.

Women's football has been around a long, long time, (not quite as long as the men's) but was stopped in its tracks (by men) and is only just recovering and getting back to where it deserves to be.

I ll hold my hands up and admit the female soccer saturday match reporters are quite good, the one who doesn't have a live broadcast, but just an audio one, she's very good.

Most male pundits leave the bar so low that if you were to bring a random girl of the street - you would probably see a minor improvement

Let women look after the women’s game and men look after the men’s game!
