Yeah as soon as he lost the ball you just knew he was gunna do something stupid seeing James get in behind him.

I feel for Alonso. He's been OK playing in a position it should be clearly established by now he's not cut out for at our level. If Sarri had of utilized Emerson more last year I think fans would be more receptive to him as a decent backup LB (which he is).

Sarri installed Emerson as first choice left back last season - not sure what you are saying there Devil.

And although it is always disappointing to lose a game - if we're not going to win the competition it actually may be beneficial to be knocked out early rather than late, as it can cause a fixture pile up (as happened last year). I know it's nice to give the youngsters some game time - but the later we go into a tournament the less likely they are to play anyway. Let's see how we react to the loss at the weekend.

Eventually yes, but that prolonged spell before he began favoring Emerson really exposed Alonso's weaknesses as a LB and he's been a bit of a pariah since, not his fault he lacks fundamental qualities to play in a specific position consistently.

too harsh on the team today, alot of chelsea fans are like toddlers, one poor result and everyone is rubbish and overrated

The fact of the matter is there was nothing between the two sides, they set up like newcastle did and came to rely on penalties and a wonder strike.

In the first half we were very slow ,the second however we were much better and we got the goal.

Billy gilmur was infact very tidy in possession and worked his arris off all night, Reece James i thought was very good defensively and offered 3 or 4 sublime crosses into the box, Guehi looked solid as a rock made no errors.

If these young lads can mix it against a full strength united side and limit them to a soft penalty and in need of a wonder goal to win a game they came to defend in then i think that there are far more positives for us, beat watford at the weekend and ill is well again
