It seems that even the top 2 are susceptible to the odd wobble - it once again shows just how unpredictable this League is, and anyone can beat anyone on ‘their day’
A great away performance against Hull, puts us back amongst the reckoning with a game in hand - but to use an old cliché: that win away at Hull won’t count for much unless we can follow it up with another one at home!
Wigan, have already beaten us this season, but hopefully we can address that when we take them on again - our home form is poor, and we could really do with addressing that and putting on a positive & dominant performance against a very mediocre team - time will tell!
I’m hoping that our poor performances and results of late are at an end, especially after such a good result against Hull - I feel the points are there for the taking, but the manager must have the team totally focused and prepared for the task ahead - discipline, togetherness and desire should get us the win
It would be a good Christmas period if we can get all 3 points, but as we all well know, nothing is that straight forward with Forest
I hoping Sow isn’t too badly injured, he’s a strong presence and we need as many fighters as we can muster in the middle of the park
Happy Christmas and New Year folks

FOREST v WIGAN - Match Thread

Can’t agree with that, the game is about entertainment, we are seeing brilliant goals ruled out, when we are drawing lines across a pitch, a defender will always lean away from goal when defending, whereas a forward will lean forwards, that is the human physique. Graham Souness made the best observation I have heard, if any part of the body a forward can score with is ONSIDE, the goal should stand. The game us played by humans not computers, the decisions should be made accordingly, VAR in the premiership is simply too rigid.

Check out Pukki’s ‘goal’ for Norwich yesterday and tell me that is NOT disadvantaging the forward.

Totally think VAR is ruining the game and the debate that makes football so entertaining
Fir the ref to be overruled by a machine because a shoelace was offside she’s a complete mockery of the game IMO and take the enjoyment out of it
The sooner we rethink how VAR should be used the better

But being offside by a millimetre or not is not down to VAR. that’s the offside law. You don’t need to get rid of VAR to change the offside law.
But what I think fails to be highlighted is that there are goals given one side by a millimetre that previously would have been ruled out. VAR is not more likely to rule out goals than it is to rule in goals. It just seems that way cause of the coverage. Also teams stop when the flag goes up. When actually I bet the flag was wrong a lot of the time. If they played and scored then the goal would be ruled onside.

VAR has ruled OUT more goals than it has helped to award, imo it is spoiling the game.

VAR is accurately applying the laws. It’s the law that needs to change?

VAR is correcting decisions. So if it rules out more than it rules in that’s cause of the ref’s decisions.

Surely ‘level’ should be counted as ‘onside’, you should not be offside because you are leaning forward. Strangely enough VAR is not being used to check pushing in the back, ask Andy Carroll, or for the most part shirt pulling or WWE style grappling, particularly at set plays. As a supporter we are sat around for far too long wondering what is being checked, the whole process needs re evaluating, or rescinding for now.

But Reddave you are arguing the offside law again. That’s not VAR’s fault. VAR is just working out as best it can, whether a player is offside when the ball is played. It’s what you do with that info that’s the issue. VAR has also stopped plenty of goals that clearly shouldn’t have stood. So there is a positive to that.
Maybe the offside rule should be changed to state that if any part of the attackers body is onside (level with or behind defender) then it’s a goal. Then VAR would be working fine and surely no one would have a problem?
