Haaland Joins Dortmund

Apparently Erling Braut Haaland has rejected a move to RB Leipzig over doubts about his playing time and because Leipzig only seem to be willing to pay him a yearly salary of €5 million and he wants €8 million according to SPORT1 in Germany.

BILD however take things a bit further and claim he's close to joining Borussia Dortmund with the possibility of a deal being completed as early as today.

If this is true, it would probably be the best place for him to go. He needs to play and I don't think he'd get to do that all the time at United, Juventus or RB Leipzig and Dortmund have been in desperate need of a proper centre forward for a while now and signing Haaland could potentially give them a huge boost in winning the Bundesliga for the first time since 2012.

We're still in need of another striker ourselves and if Haaland does join Dortmund, we're a bit shorter on options than we were not so long ago with Mandzukic having signed for Al-Duhail in Qatar and Ibrahimovic re-joining AC Milan.

So who do we go for now?

Raul Jimenez was somebody other than Mandzukic I thought about during last summer. A hard deal to complete if we were interested I'm sure, then again that's nothing new.

I'm just glad this particular circus is over before it began. The entire thing stunk and fack his bertie dad - between him and raiola it's better to have it stink up another club. He'll fail at Chelsea in a few seasons and go back to bratwurst land. Greenwood is going to have the better career and it'll be for our club.

Personally Never watched Haaland so CAnt say I care. Heard some Lukaku comparisons and if he’s at all similar. No thank you.

Honestly have no idea why Liverpool fans care about united. When we were winning titles, I barely acknowledged their existence other than when we played them as they weren’t the ones in a title race against us. Have no idea why they care about us when we are rubbish

His agent is Raiola..

Explains a lot although does seem strange after Solskjaer came out a couple of weeks ago saying he knew of Haaland's decision.

He didn't say he knew his decision.

I doubt that it will be just down to cost. There will be a lot of factors. However, people need to realise that his agent wouldn't want him to go to United at this stage of his career. Why would he? Every time the lad moves to another club it is a huge payday for Riaola. It makes sense for the agent to see the lad go to Dortmund for a few years, then on to a club in the PL, then if he is good enough on to Madrid or Barca. Riaola will want to get a minimum of 3 transfers out of the lads career.

Perhaps this is a factor that we are taking into consideration? Just how many years can you expect to get out of one of Raiola's clients? Is it worth all the hassle and extra cost when the player and agent have their eyes on the next move?

Having read the details of the deal (while Mino has said it was the kid's choice, it seems he didn't deny the financial aspect of the deal United rejected) its best for him to go to Dortmund. Personally though, I'm always wary about a player who's agent is Mino.
