Date: Saturday 11th January
Venue: Molineux
Kick off time: 15.00
On Saturday Wolves welcome Newcastle to Molineux.
Both sides come into the game on the back of an FA Cup draw, Wolves against Manchester united (0-0) and Newcastle against Rochdale (1-1)
On June 24th 2019 previous manager Rafa Benitez left St James’ Park after failing to agree with owner Mike Ashley on the financial outlay needed to improve the squad in the coming transfer window.
On July 17th the club appointed Steve Bruce who brought in 7 new players for a modest outlay of around £68m.
In his first 21 games Bruce has won 7, drawn 4 and lost 10 gaining 25 points with a 33.3% win percentage.
In his final 21 games Benitez won 8, had 5 draws and lost 8 gaining 29 points with a 38.1% win percentage.
In the light of this perhaps it would have been wise for Ashley to have given Benitez what he asked for and renewed his contract.
Historically Wolves come out on top of the previous games stats having won 41, drawn 25 and lost 32
The reverse fixture in October ended 1-1 with goals from Jamaal Lascelles and Jonny Castro Otto
Wolves are currently occupying 7th place in Premier League table with 30 points. Newcastle are in 13th place with just 5 points less.
Gem’s prediction: 2-1

Games against Newcastle always seem to be tight close affairs these days, they rarely give up the points without a fight. I dont see this being too different, though if we can avoid going a goal down it bound to help. Cant remember the last time we beat them at home, unless it was the day we hammered Keegan's side 6 something with a Mutchy hat trick, I definitely remember that.

Last time we beat them at home was on the 5th January 2003. An FA cup game that ended 3-2. Prior to that we beat them 1-0 on 10th April 1993 in Div 1

Sounds like Jota is going to be out for weeks. At least Boly will be back early Feb.

Oh ar, I remember the cup game as well now you mention it, we had some fun with Craig Bellamy that day
17 years since a home league victory though, lets hope we put that right tomorrow.

U23s lost 1-0 at home to Blackburn tonight. They are going to need a few good results to avoid relegation to the second tier of U23 football now.
Saw part of the game on Wolves tv and Otasowie looks a good player in the making

Not surprised they are struggling for wins, all the best players are either with the senior squad are going out on loan.

After Sheff Utd winning last night courtesy of another daft var decision, Wolves sit 8th in the league. Every chance we will end the weekend back in the top 6 if we win today though. We would go back above the Blades and Spurs without Kane surely won’t beat Liverpool. We could go 5th if Utd fail to win at home to Norwich
