I think Aouar could be developed in a number of midfield roles, to be fair. Probably what Pep will do. I see similarities with Thiago.

I've not seen a whole lot of Diawara tbf but even watching him play a few games it's easy to see he has a broader skillset than a lot of DMs we're being linked with.

One of my fears is that we end up with Declan Rice or Sean Longastaff, because they are English and want to play for the club. Apparently that’s good enough to be a United player nowadays.

It’s one of the reasons I’m a bit worried about giving Ole more money. Shades of Liverpool under KKKenny. And look how that set them back.

Yeah I share the same concerns but it's been reported that he seems to have seen the light as far as Longstaff goes, hopefully he does the same with Rice.

If he brings in Bruno, that buys him some more credit with me.

I take offence to that.

The young British mantra seems to be pushed more by the media (and probably by the PR machine at United) yet in the same breath they have been linking us and had linked us to a lot of non British players, a few of them can't even be considered young.

What Ole has said is that he wants the right fit for the club and the players should want to play for United (so we don't get another Di Maria situation). He'd prefers younger players but isn't rigidity sticking to it. Maguire, at 26, wasn't young for instance. Eriksen isn't young nor British, but he didn't want a move to Manchester so a bid didn't go through (and the form he is in, it's probably a good thing we didn't get him).

Longstaff was linked but I doubt we were expecting a ridiculous fee being put on him. That pretty much killed any interest in him.

I also hope we avoid Rice. He seems as much overhyped than John Stones was and I think that because he decided to play for England has contributed to it.
