Goodwill destroyed but lets wake up here.

Lets look at what has happened on a human level globally thus far 65,000 deaths, this is serious but some small hopes that the worst in some countries is passed (not here yet thanks to boris' herd)

After the human level comes the economic level. this is about the UK economy not about football but we have clubs like MINE snatching money form the public purse, and make no mistake its purse snatching

Then we come to the clubs:
My understanding is that in other leagues teams like barca and their players were told out straight what would happen to the club based on money not coming in and their "world highest" club salaries going out.
The fact is they could understand this logic and took the necessary actions as did Juve players in italy.
Its purely a matter of needing a club to exist when its over to cream the 500k per week the likes of messi is on.

The PFA and players are a thundering disgrace in the UK. The likes of rose and townsend whinging about back to the wall just shows how out of touch they are.

My view is that hard nosed businessman Daniel Levy didn't furlough his staff cos he couldn't wait to.
He can see the data in front of him. 5million or 6 million or whatever on wages isn't going to break a club but he's done it for some reason and its not just greed par se. Its free money to him and its cynical but the numbers somewhere must add up. that that 6 mil is worth more than the complete loss of good will from fans.

The exact same goes for FSG and their CEO at Anfield. The loss of good will is MASSIVE

So now the players:
The players in the UK seem on the face of it to need to be dragged kicking and screaming to the table.

Exmaple: I know the liverprool total wage bill is 310million.

So lets just think about that. say 10mil of that or whatever is the staff now on furlough. 10mil

Thats 300mil that has to be paid from somewhere.

Our revenue in 2018/19 was 533mil and profit 42mil.

So we are not even month in and we probably have paid the players and staff 25mil out of the club.

Another 5 months and that will reach 155 mil. we just reduced that by a paltry 5mil or whatever robbed formthe exchequer in my view.

150mil will go out to players. And they won't take a pay cut????

Simple logic dictates that the PFA and players just slightly need to get real here. If this lasts 4 or 5 months there won't be clubs to pay the 150mil.

Not one single club in the prem, not even city can pay all their players for 6 months with zero revenue coming in.

My views on this therefore are:

a) fans need to continue to reject this outrageous unnecessary money grab by clubs It is out of OUR pockets in the end. We cannot accept staff being put on furlough while real businesses fail and go under and while we all struggle in the biggest economic crash EVER. 5mil won't save Liverpool FC. But it has soured the relationship with fans.

b) Players need to immediately agree to more than a stop gap 30%. They need to realise that if this continues another 6 months they won't be getting anything form anyone. 70% might not be enough.

c) fans of clubs lower down the structure who are looking to the FA and premier league to bail them out are DREAMING. the top players and agents are looking after themselves here.

Lower income clubs need help, top clubs don't.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
and you know this because?

Seriously I would have assumed you would be quite correct given the perception of the numbers invovled but if contracts to players are honours with no money coming in then inevitably they will all be insolvant.

Frankly a club like brentford, Absolutely. Were building a ground and so forth and so on and they will be really struggling i expect. use the furlough.

A club like LIVERPOOL? 46mil profit recorded last year??? can't afford 4 or 5 million if this goes on 6 months?

theres something illogical there that your statement and the clubs actions don't align. Pure greed doesn't really cover it either.

If they take a 30% pay cut, revenue misses out on 200 million in taxes. Think about that for a minute.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Two sides here. One is the players and their agents. They need to get together and find a way to help out the non playing staff and society as a whole. Maybe say providing some cash from their post tax pay. At the end many people give to charity net pay.

Then there are the clubs in particular the premier league ones. The shameful use of the govt scheme. And in few months time when the transfer window opens you know they will be spending some obscene amounts.

We all have been missing football past few weeks etc but things like this is a real turn off.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
just on the point above.

If we get back to football in august say, and liverpool buy a player for 40mil. I will not be happy.

every penny to the exchequer should be paid back with interest.

It was said a couple of seasons back, not to sure exactly when, but it was said that the Premiership could survive a season without fans at games!..

If that's the case, why cant they help your NHS and lower clubs more?..

They could claw anything given out now back in a season or two, football is their world and they claim grass root football is include in that!..

And then crap on the Lower leagues!..

you are either being deliberately obtuse or don't get it.

The facts are at this point Burnley have stated that they stand to lose 50mil 45 of which is TV money and 5 is remaining match day revenues (4 or 5 games)

Right now all the revenue is gone so your point about premier league without fans is moot. Theres no tv money to make that statement relevant.

The current situation is clubs have x money on hand and y outgoings.

If Y keeping going out then x will be all used up.

the reality is at this point some efforts have been made to pay money to the lower leagues. Lord only knows if the amount is enough or not to have lower leagues after this.

the other reality is I don't see the bundelsiga doing any more. In fact they donated pretty much IDENTICAL fund to their own lower leagues.

I can assure you that Levy will avoid spending huge amounts if he doesn’t have to.

This would be true at any time though

Assuming player wages are 3bn now then 10% is 300m. The 200m that Rooney is concerned about? Thats 6.7% pf the 3bn. So how about the players take a 36.7% paycut and keep the contributions the same to the NHS which they seem to be concerned about.

just so we are clear here.

if the players take a 30% pay cut the money stays into eh clubs.

the 30% is just to keep the clubs afloat til the big bucks start rolling again.

Thought the furlough of staff was to keep the clubs running?
