It’s an utter disgrace..
‘ After the human level comes the economic level’
Yeah if that were true we wouldn’t be in this mess.
It’s always about the money
Our strategy (as with a lot of other countries) was firstly based on the economy
People came last again.
Man City’s accounts for the second quarter are going to make interesting reading. 😂
It’s a disgrace. I just pray United don’t stoop this low. It’s obscene and there should be ramifications for the clubs doing this in my opinion.
The situation with Barca is a weird one though. Our government created the furlough scheme (which is amazing - you have to say) whereas in Spain, the government passed lefgislation for all businesses to cut wages up to 70% overnight.
You have to ask if the government didn’t pass that legislation, would the Barca players be so happy as to take that cut?
I totally agree with you.
With those move FSG have taken some shine out of the title win (when it happens).
Think on, most players in the premiership ain't English!..
If they were being paid in their own countries than most would more then likely say, here, take this you need it more than me!..
They're away from home with relatives and friends at home they're thinking of, England only gives them their hard earned,()money and they're not going to give it up that easily!..
The Government should cap pay, or tax top earners more and put the money in a pot for anything like what is now!..
Your health system could do with one hell of a lot of help/backing at this moment in time!..

I don't know.
But it is quite clear the spanish TV were not going to pay up and the UK TV companies pay in advance (which when you think baout it is crazy)
the simple maths can't lie. theres outgoings of 150mil for LFC with income of 0?
stands to reason you have to threaten these players with the sack to get them to cut in the absence of the government threat.

If there no club to pay them what do they do?
I'm sure the one or two like mane would be snapped up but if theres a queue of 1000s of players and only a relatively few clubs left standing they are out on thier ear.
Its not about being english and taking a patriotic stand. Its about pure self interest to take the short sharp hit for long term gain. Pure economics for players.
Really facked off about this, really poor decision to make before implementing a player wage cut.
You have sports stars all over America paying into to funds to keep the non-playing staff at their clubs getting paid.

Actually most players in the PL are English...
Also if we were to tax top earners more, we wouldn’t have the top players in the PL that we do and the product would be worse off.
I’m all for players contributing, and rightly so, but taxing the highest earners disproportionately never works. Which is why hardly any nation in the world does it.

I think the players/management should be supporting the lower earning staff.
Who the fack is advising the LFC leadership team on this
Can’t disagree with the Op here one bit.
Lack of connection form football clubs to the community is shocking.
Let’s not twist the knife fully, Liverpool et al. All do great community work/support.
But the grab from
spurs, Liverpool and Newcastle and Norwich is shameful.
So far its 20% of clubs.
Let me be clear and respond to ole here as well.
Man utd salaries in 2018 was 300million as well. Not sure what it is today.
so think on about clubs taking this action. Utd can no more afford to pay 150mil for nothing coming in than anyone else.
However as I've said above. a paltry 5mil from the pockets of you and me in the form of furloughs seems to be hardly going to turn the tide here.
theres not one single club in the prem who can afford to keep paying everyone for 6 months and then just carry on.
I can't see too many players moving for massive fees this summer/autumn/winter transfer window.
Every club needs to cut wages. the obvious thing is multi millionaires taking the hit for 3 or 6 months then getting back to earning obscene money.
sitting whinging about being targeted and then not handing anything over til your arms twisted while your teams staff get paid by the government is just as sick.
some players like zaha did a few things. some players privately give a lot. But this is not about good lads. This is about everyone taking a hit and getting on with it so that the lowest paid don't.
1000 liverpool staff being paid by the government will not be without pain to the community. Its a disgrace right enough. If we are saying we cannot afford 5 mil now then I for one don't think we can afford 5mil when the transfer window opens.
It was leaked before this furlough we had suspended all talk of transfers and contracts.

For me Wayne Rooney's comments only add to the comments of Townsend and Rose.
Its very clear the players and owners are not talking as the merest outlining of reality and whats needed to keep clubs going is required.
The FA are playing this month by month as well. there is no surety of when this will end. If they said right next september that when the games start back and we will be doing this and this..... well then the clubs could calculate based on likely incomes the impact to balance sheets of playing full wages, 30% less, 50% less 70% less unitl then.
The reality for me is the players are only digging themselves a hole. The clubs are doing likewise with furloughing and frankly if they thing people will turn up and cheer them at the end they are in for a shock.
"I get that players are well paid and could give up money. But this should be getting done on a case-by-case basis.
"Clubs should be sitting down with each player and explaining what savings it needs to survive. Players would accept that.
"One player might say, 'I can afford a 30%'; another might say, 'I can only afford 5%'.
"Personally, I'd have no problem with some of us paying more. I don't think that would cause any dressing room problems.
wake up wayne.
show me a player who can only afford 5% in the premier league and I'll show you a guy who's managed his finances terribly.

Moreinjured, 100% with you, but wasn’t it the case that the PFA advised the players not to entertain any cuts, the players, I.e. Jordan H and the other skippers rejected the PFA’s advice and set up this 30% gig.
Thus leaving the PFA, and Graham Taylor in particular out in the cold, freezing (With his £2M p.a. As chairman to keep him warm, obviously. No, moreinjured, I haven’t got a fekinclue either what he does or doesn’t do to justify that much).
