And that's fine but influence is not my reason for putting him top, I've explained my reasoning. If you take the best attributes of the above players, VVD is as good if not better at all of them. He's the most rounded, with no real weaknesses.

I'm saying that his core attributes stand out more because of who he is replacing and the state of the team when he came in.

You are over rating his attributes because of that in comparison to other top defenders.

I'd love to have heard you waxing lyrical about him when he was at Liverpool. He was unplayable at times.

Fast forward past a terrible period at Chelsea and people's views have changed.

What you're doing with TAA and VVD is flawed in the extreme, but the Gerrard 3rd best this century opinion gives an indication as to why.

I haven't seen anybody laughing at it. Disagreeing yes but not laughing. I don't see what's funny about it. I can understand disagreeing due to the longevity point. People are entitled to that opinion.
